Ok, so psychology is relatively new (began in the late 1800's, and began to swing in full force around the 1920's) and is greatly based on a sham.. Who might this sham be? Sigmund Freud and co, (well not particularly Freud, he was the lesser evil of the group.) These two pals were in bed with the Tobacco companies, Advertisement firms, and government officials. What did they do you may ask? Well the co (mostly Bernays,) were hired to get people to smoke, in particular women. Fast forward a bit, and their goals were met. They were also hired by Advertisement firms to get people to buy their stupid, and pointless goods. Edward Bernays, what a soulless bastard. In 1928 he found it necessary that propaganda (and public control,) be a necessary part of democracy...... but wait, doesn't that violate what "democracy" is about? However during this time Freud was in Vienna for various reasons, and was oblivious to what was going on, when he got back from Vienna he said, "This is a huge mistake." Particularly talking about what Bernays had done with America and public mind control. An incident that should be known, and probably isn't know. I believe the president in questions is Woodrow Wilson, but anyways let me proceed to the point. Sigmund Freud was hired to make Woodrow Wilson, appear like a good president. How did he do this? Celebrities and money. He hired 34 of some of the best, well known celebrities at the time to come to the White House, and hang out for a bit, thus giving Woodrow, public appeal. ----------- Psychology is based upon a sham, and a sham so great it paved the way for Americans today (and people from all around the world,) to be controlled by their governments. However this was a few years ago, and I like to think that Psychology still isn't a sham, but sadly it is. Now with this being said, don't try and twist this, or make it seem like I'm saying Psychology isn't helpful. It is, it greatly is, and has lots of benefits. But the point I'm trying to make it is was greatly based on, and influenced by a fairly big evil, that effects the world today, and still effects the field of psychology, but has transitioned and morphed. The evil is Pharmaceutical Companies, but that's an issue for another thread.

Also worth noting Sigmund Freud is one of the most influential people to work in the field of Psychology, same can be said about Edward Bernays.
