I already know I have strange views of the world as it is, but I have a very 'out there' question to ask of you guys here in GC...

For all we know some catastrophic event could put us into a real, uncontrollable economic collapse. Major inflation, massive natural disaster, war, drought/disease, etc. could all be contributing factors. The fall of the US is inevitable. I don't mean like it will collapse tomorrow, but all things must end; it is part of life. What happens if the fall of the US initiates another dark age? It struck me the other day because of how frequently the US has been compared to Rome. The fall of the Roman empire was the catalyst to the deterioration of Europe. What if the fall of the US empire will be the catalyst to the deterioration of the world?

Like I said, this is a pseudo-political question and is pretty far out there. I just thought it was interesting... Thinking about a world so technologically advanced going through something like the Dark Ages. I think it could get pretty bad the way our cities are over crowded...

Does anyone else see this as a possibility? Do you think it could happen? How do you think it would happen?

What else then, is all of history, but the praise of America?

  2. I personally think we've been IN a Dark Age (a modern form) for quite some time. I also see the collapse of the US as a way to get us out of the Dark Age.

  3. I'm most worried about looters from the city immediately after the collapse, thats my main reason for having a firearm.

  4. There needs to be that collapse so people can finally wake up. Its essential.

    this is the dark age.

  5. Could be true as well... I wonder how things will go down in the history books when the current US finally bites the big one.

I feel as though culturally and scientifically we have been advancing relatively rapidly and a new 'Dark Age' would be categorized as when we stop advancing culturally and scientifically. A stagnant period of time.

  6. Personally all societies/civilizations fall...and if I am correct the U.S is destined for a collapse pretty soon, in fact I dont know how we have lasted this long.

If the U.S did fall nations all around the world would suffer a huge blow. People call you crazy for owning guns anymore or growing your own food or being self reliant for that matter, its kind of sad really because people are so reliant on the system, never being taught how to think or act on their own accord.....I am predicting a mad max scenario...no money, no oil, no law of the land except of what you make of it, expect to see me on my bike with ma sawed off Remington.:D.........I wish I had a sawed off Remington:(

  7. The fall of the American Government will cause some turbulence, but the idea of America (freedom and personal liberties) will live on, and continue to make the world better. This is the true America. Ironically its being suppressed by the government.

    government=/=country

  8. I got plenty of guns at my house, shoot we can even make our own ammo.

    I'm set. :D

  9. No, I'm sure everything will be okay... LOL

    /sarcasm

People saw that communism was a failure but failed to also lump socialism into the same failboat. For some reason people held on to socialism even though it's also a failure.

  12. Stock up on cigarettes y'all.

They'll make for the best kind of currency when we can't use paper money. ;)

  13. Interesting...
    Will be like prison so...

Jeez, i hope i don't bump into Bubba when i'm scavenging for food...
