super stoked for this, specially since its set in my hometown.  A first for Seattle to the location for an open world game, I believe.

still really enjoying games on the PS3.   I'm a casual-mid lvl gamer and still have a large library of unfinished games.
Mabye let the PS4 be out a couple years b4 getting one.  Wider game selection, price drop, and major bugs will be worked out on the console.    imo

I say this now but will I really be able to resist?

fun fact In Japan >% of consoles are Playstation and there is little interest in Xbox

  2. I feel like I don't want to buy the new xbox simply because it seems so ridiculous
The fee for used games and the having to connect to the internet once a day really broke it for me
I'm too poor to buy brand new games, thats why I buy used ones, or borrow from a friend.
As for the internet, before recently I may not have given it as much thought, but I just got internet back recently, and if I couldn't have been able to play on a console during that time, I may have gone crazy with boredom.
I don't see how paying these fees will help the developers, even if a portion goes directly to a developer, I guarantee microsoft takes a %.
You want help developers? PAY THEM MORE AND CUT THEM BETTER DEALS WHEN YOU CONTRACT THEIR GAMES
instead of passing the buck to the consumer, when you're already raking in huge profits.

Well, that's all opinion of course. Xbox has some exclusives that I would like to try out, but really, Fable is the only one i'm interested, and Fable TLC was the only one I thought was good(I played 3, beat 2)and you can get Fable TLC on a PC. Halo and Gears of War never interested me. I only liked the first two Halo's(preferably Halo 2)for the original Xbox. After that, not really.

PS3 has some amazing exclusives, and if you haven't tried them out yet, you can't really say that they aren't good.(I know you said "Always wanted to play" but still)

Some exclusives that are worth paying 300 bucks for a PS3 are:

    - Uncharted
    - Infamous
    - Metal Gear Solid
    - Kingdom Hearts(the main series, not the spin offs. Kingdom Hearts Remix 1.5 will be coming out exclusively for PS3 soon)
    - Little big Planet
    - Resistance
    - Killzone
    - Gran Turismo
    - Ratchet and Clank
    - Anything in the future that is made by Naughty Dog, or any of the other devs I mentioned above(which include The Last of Us)

    Plus, many more, like:

    - Flower(Or anything made by "Thatgamecompany" including Journey)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUC2tpY5gb4
I really still wish I had this game...great stoner game

    - A bunch of PS3 mini games, and other PS Store downloads, including classic PS titles, and Classic PS2 Titles(you can currently get all of the PS2 GTA's on the PS Store, including SA)

Plus a bunch of other games that i'm not going to really mention since I forgot lol

The Sony library has, in my opinion, always been much superior than Microsofts, and I think they tie with Nintendo for best exclusives.

Sony has a lot more variety in exclusives, they got FPS games, Racing games, Action adventure, 3D and 2D exclusives, platformer exclusives. Plus, these are exclusives that you can ONLY get on Sony's system, not even on the PC. Any other great games, like Red Dead Redemption, Portal, Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, and Farcry 3 for example, are all multi platform, so you won't be missing out on those if you purchase a PS3 either.

Not to mention, a built in blu ray player in the PS3, so you can watch DVD's, Blu Rays, Burned Discs, and even burn music CD's on the system. It comes equipped with an online browser(You can even go on GC from the PS3 browsers, or, various porn sites lmao), there is free internet no matter what, and yes, believe it or not, the PS3's internet is just fine. Specially if you get like Uncharted, and you play multiplayer, WOW:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33Uj7VIf_84

Heres some of the multiplayer modes for the other exclusives:

    - Little Big Planet 2

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD-ERSeLj68

    - Metal Gear Solid 4

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFMqXakIk_U

    - Resistance 3

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4yXHbMZxdE

    - Killzone 3

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RT0IGtlHlg

    ----

The multiplayer vids didn't show up, but you can look them up to see what I mean.

But anyways, you get the point. It's well worth 300 bucks. PS4 should be no different, and we should see a BUNCH of awesome exclusives coming out for the PS4 in the next few years.

Oh, I would also like to point out the fact that you don't need to be connected to the internet to play games for the PS4, and any used games will be allowed, fee free.

IMO, leave consoles to Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft should just go back to computers.

  4. Still haven't decided. I love video games, and the only thing I know for certain is that I'm definitely not getting the Wii U. One of the dumbest console ideas I've ever heard of. I like the fact that Xbox One is going towards unifying all entertainment media into one hardware (that's the reason why it's called Xbox One). One the other hand, I've never been disappointed with a Playstation console (not counting handheld consoles). I'm fine with my PS3 for now so I doubt I'll get the console until next summer just because the game library for new consoles don't get really good until the next year because companies understand the hardware compatibilities. I'm very interested in seeing the PS4 and it's approach towards the 8th generation of video gaming.

  5. I wasnt saying sony's exclusives were bad, just that only 1 or 2 actually interest me. but either way, most likely I will be getting the ps4, cuz the more I think about how much microsoft fucked up the new xbox, the more pissed off I become.

I've been really put off by the tv shit, but I have to say if I was living alone and microsoft(for whatever reason) offered like a cable service through the xbox, I would probly do it if it was priced right, but as it is its useless to me.

I know, I know, I made sure to point that out, just wanted to mention in general, for those who don't know, that theres a lot of good exclusives that I didn't even know I wanted to get until I got them and tried them out.

  7. Im gonna go with playstation this time

  8. If I was still a console gamer...PS4 all the way. But I'm a PC gamer and don't ever see myself going back.

  9.
I find consoles are better for those on a budget, consoles don't usually have the best hardware compared to PC's, but they last, and by that, I mean, any PC game that you can play, a console can most likely play as well.

Look at the PS3, in 2008, it could play Fallout 3 perfectly, and in 2012, it could play Farcry 3 perfectly, and no hardware upgrade was needed.

I understand you though, if I had the money, I would go with a PC, but most likely get a gaming pad for it, since I can never get used to the keyboard and/or mouse.

  10. Is it true that the Xbox One is going to require a key code to go online for each game? You know, like Battlefield 3? If that's the case I will completely boycott the new Xbox because my local rental store is close to dying already and I don't respect these new anti-rental policies hurting my community.

  11.
The only thing that I think would throw off people, is the always online thing. Gotta be online even for playing single player games, which is sort of a drag unless you have high speed internet, which not everyone does.

I don't know about the key thing, but you do need to pay a fee for used games, or if you let a friend borrow a game, they have to pay a fee just to play it on their xbox.

  12. I too will be making the switch over to PC soon .....It will be an investment well made! Cant wait!

Thanks for the response. I suppose that wouldn't cut out the market completely but they've definitely lost my support for even trying to damage the sale of second hand games Also, what about bringing over a game to your friend's house for the night? They definitely wouldn't get away with taking it that far and demanding payment.

I don't know everything about the xbox, but supposedly yes, that's the deal. One game tied to one console unless you pay the fee. Looks like if you want to game out at a friends house, you have to bring you're whole console along, whether they have an xbox too or not.

I was glad to see that Sony will be supporting used games next gen. I see where microsoft is coming from, though. Developers don't make money off of used games, so it's probably a way to support devs, but still, used games, and borrowing you're friends games have been in gaming since the beginning.

For Microsoft to be the only ones making this call, it won't be too good for them.

Honestly, devs should make it to where you have to have a key to play online on their games. They've done this before, like with battlefield like you said, or Uncharted 3 had the same thing, and it worked out fine. You could still buy used games, and devs would still make money if you decided to buy the online pass.

  15. the pass that you get wouldnt be tied to the console per say, but rather your account, which also brings up problems if you share the console. you buy the game, enter the code on your account, but playing split screen with your friends or family will be impossible cuz the game wont be on their account.

I actually really like that idea about a code for online play and not for the whole game in general. it helps the problem of piracy without causing more problems that were previously stated.

  16. Hell to the motherfucking no! Battlefield 3's passcode online shit was fucking retarted. I really don't like the direction consoles are taking..... the only thing they are useful for is netflix.

If the reviews start coming in negative i'll sell my consoles, buy a N64 and a bluray player for netflix streaming

It's to support the devs who pay millions to make the games for you. They don't spend all that hard earned money, and put in all that work for you to go get a used copy and they get nothing out of it.

Honestly, I love online passes. Why should you be able to pay them NOTHING for a used game, and get to use their servers online that they pay to maintain? It's just business, get ready to see a lot more of this in the future.

Edit: Yeah, netflix, but I also love the youtube app that the PS3 has, as I love youtube and I love surfing youtube on a big plasma screen. I also love the fact that you can burn music on the PS3(and xbox of course), or use the PS3's online browser to download free music off sites like beemp3. Plus, if you know how to work the PS3 browser, theres sites where you even download free movies, it's great.

Everything else i'm not too fond of. I hate Sony's Music Unlimited because you have to pay to use it. They should add a pandora app tbh. I also think crunchy roll, and neon alley are good for those who are anime lovers.

  18. Okay but we already pay for the game which is expensive new, and we pay for online in microsofts case. I just hate all these new extra costs. Throw the server cost into the game price if you want, but don't make me enter all these passcodes and jump through all kinds of hoops just to play a video game online

    But.... They are GAMING CONSOLES.
All they are doing is wasting time and money developing bullshit i can do with my computer already.

You want to surf web on your TV? You can use any video output on a laptop or computer to achieve that, i do it daily with my PC as i can attach 4, count it, four, monitors at once.

Why would anyone buy a gaming console to web search and listen to pandora? LMAO. so useless.

Game consoles are a waste of time and money, save up a grand, buy a PC. Thats really NOT THAT MUCH. You can buy like 15 used games or 8 new games  and a console with that, and in the end you will be saving money. I have over 3k in games i paid about 400 for thanks to sales and shit. Never paid full price for a PC game. Got every GTA for like 20$......

You buy a console for 500, Then you need to spend about 500$ just to get EIGHT games. Fucking stupid if you ask me.

Maybe im just too frugal with my hard earned money and feel like throwing my money at Sony or Microsoft is just pointless when i can do more with my PC for less money over time.

Also Fuck exclusive games. I'd rather have like 5 good PC games that i can mod the fuck out of and have a entire new game that nobody else can have.

GTA IV with 2013 Jeep SRT8's, Right hand drive Nissan S13's with drift handling lines and Ferrari Taxis? I can play that all day.

The PC game modding scene is enough alone to make me a PC gamer for life. I used to have like 5 360's a PS3, several ps2's, NES, n64, etc etc. Sold it all.

  20. This. Modding games is the best part about pc. Being able to change a game in any way you want and make it your own is awesome.
