Can you trim fan leaves during flowering? I've read that doing this will divert the energy of the plant from going to the buds to going to the "wounds". Is this true? I'm 4 weeks into flowering using a bubble bucket method w/ 150 W HPS (bag seed). I topped the plant twice early into veg and the thing is HUGE. Can I trim the plant so that I can get more light on the smaller lower buds? Thanks for your help!
I wouldn't do anything to crazy. Maybe just a few fan leafs would be okay. Honestly only 4 weeks into flowering you don't want to go hacking off a lot of leafs. Those leafs are still producing energy. Once your like 2 weeks from harvest you can start removing leafs so your buds get more light and air. Plus it will make it easier when harvest day does come. If you have a few main colas though I wouldn't worry about those little buds on the bottom canopy screw em lol, worry about your big buds on top.
I agree. Do not trim to get light to your bottom buds. You want your top buds to be able to soak up as much of that 150 watt HPS as it can. If you NEED to trim something, I'd look at those little bitty bottom buds that are stealing energy from your bigger top buds.
Do not trim green leaves in flowering, the plant is going to need the nutrients it stores there. Tie them back or tuck them to get more light to lower levels.
