  1. Hey everyone,
I'm trying to figure out what I need to get a card in California after recently moving here from the east coast. I'm wondering what I might be able to use as proof of residency since I don't currently have any state-issued ID's (and would rather not get a new driver's license, car registration, insurance etc...).

    Would a pay-stub do?
Maybe a utility bill? (though that would require wrangling as I'm renting in a shared house)
Or is there some other thing I should get/find/do?
    Thanks!

  2. California DMV also issues California ID cards. They are just like a driver's license, except you can't drive! They are also cheaper.

    Granny

  3. You can use any utility bills, pay stubs, or checks with your current address on it as proof of residence.

  4. Thanks so much! I've got an appointment at the DMV for tomorrow.
Wish me luck, I'm sure I'll need it...
(Good to know about the pay stubs, if the DMV is ridiculous I'll try it with just that)

  5. FYI: You're required to by California state law- within ten days of moving here, actually. I advise you do so ASAP, even if you'd rather not.

  6. So, all the DMV of Cali needs in order to give you a licence or ID card is a utility bill or pay stub?

The DMV here is completely insane though, appt's booked through first week of march. So I'm going to try and use the paystub to prove residency for the MMJ card. Hopefully it'll be enough!

  8. well dont be shy, and feel free to come back and tell us how this went. and what the outcome was.??

  9. So if one to were move to a medical state, as soon as they move there, and have an ID, they can submit paperwork for a recommendation?

  10. Yup. :)

To get to the bottom line as to what you need and how to avoid a felony charge with multi state ID's and fraudulently obtaining a mmj card...call the DMV.

It is illegal to have a state drivers license for a state you are NOT a resident of.... should be a clue as to what you need to do.

  12. that is not true. as long as you have residency papers that you LIVE as a California resident you are all good.

  13. wtf where do you live in cali? I was told a utility bill would work...

  14. hmmm, which part of what I said is not true?

  15. That's quite enough bickering. This subject has been covered I don't know how many times already.
