Hey now I wanna bet that you guys are tired of seeing these "classic or digit?" threads.... but this is really important to me. I will be starting off 2013 right by switching to a vaporizer exclusively for the health benefits (I recently had a chest surgery). I love smoking but I am forced to eliminate it from my lifestyle. I am dead set on purchasing a Storz & Bickel Volcano and nothing will talk me out of it. I have done my research and this is most definitely "the one" for me. I am also dead set on the Easy Valve system. With that being said..... Digit or Classic? The Great Debate. The dial on the classic just seems a bit outdated (after all it is 10 years old), but I wonder if adding electronics to the Volcano effects the quality of the machine in any way, positive or negative. From what I've gathered, the only perks of the Digit is setting exact, accurate temperatures and the 30 minute shutoff. Is there anything I'm missing? To me, those are great features, but are those two things alone really worth the extra bones? Also, the Digit has been on the market since 2007 (I think) .. has anyone heard of the LED crapping out? I've seen a ton of Volcano reviews on YouTube, but none of them are specific enough, and nobody has thoroughly reviewed the Digit. Its in your hands now, Grass City. Note: Money is not an issue. The way I see it, the minimum amount I will have to spend is around $540, so whats an extra $130? IF its actually worth it. Thanks guys
The less circuits and moving parts in a vape, the less there is to break. Using that logic, the Classic should prove to be more reliable.
Thanks for your input. Very logical response, but does the temp accuracy of the Digit beat using the dial?
Here I came into this thread hoping to talk you out of the volcano haha, but since you said you are dead set on getting one I won't bother doing that . To answer your question, the classic is going to be more reliable as mentioned. Before the Digital used to have a 2 year warranty vs the classic that had a 3 year warranty. I'm not sure why that was, but now they both have a 3 year warranty. For me though, I would opt for the classic mainly because there is less to go wrong.
That classic sure is pretty. The Digit is more flashy whereas the classic is much sleeker and... classy. Honestly I'd be fine with either model, but I'm not going on looks.
Only in the very beginning. After you've vaped a few bags and notice where the dial is set as compared to the varying tastes and color of the ABV, the advantage of a Digit ceases to exist, unless of course, you're a bit anal about things like this and want to know the exact temp you're vaping at, which for those that are a bit compulsive about things, is of major importance.
Interesting.... thanks. Wouldn't the Digit be easier to experiment with, though? Especially to someone new to the Volcano. Or no? And I hear so much about the Digit being more precise. EDIT: When I say precise I mean there is no fluctuation in temp. As in, if you set it to 340, you're getting 340. Nothing more, nothing less. Its THAT accurate. EDIT:How are the temps on the classic less precise, if true? I heard that, for example, having the classic set on a 6 setting, your really not vaping at a 6 setting. You could be getting above or below that. I heard it fluctuates like crazy. Someone please clear this up for me
I have the classic version and Idk why anyone would spend the extra hundo on the digital one. I set mine at 6 and its worked great for me since day one. I don't need to know what the temp is to the degree also I know you said you're dead set on the volcano but you really should check out the vapexhale cloud. Thing is tits, I'm getting one soon hopefully
Hate to be the devil's advocate, but why so dead set on the Volcano? Like you said yourself, the analog has been out for about 10 years, the digital for 5-6 years. The technology is continuously improving, and theres so many vapes on the market that you can easily find something better for the same price, or similar for a cheaper price. With all that said, definitely analog, sometimes simplicity is better in the long run

I don't think they would make a product that expensive if it fluctuated wildly with the temp. From my experience its always stayed very even and constant throughout the entire session. The same components that are in the digital are in the classic just you can actually see the temp.
True. They have been out for over a decade now, but thats why I have so much respect for the Volcano. You can't deny how well crafted they are. Nothing out there beats it... YET at least. What else on the market right now is better than the Volcano?
Thats what I'm talkin' about, HBGBUB. Something from YOUR experience. Thanks and I will take this into consideration. Like I said, I had only heard this.
Yea exactly. One possible benefit of the digital is being able to see your actual temp, which is nice if you wanted that. Then you could see how close the vape is at holding the temp. I don't know about "better" per say, but the VapeXhale Cloud is probably on par with the Volcano. If you like vapor-bonging, it's about the best there is.
MANY people, including myself, hate sucking on bags to get their vapor. Downsides on bags: High air to vapor ratio unless you turn up the temps, which then results in bad taste as well as increased toxins. Large interior surface area of the bags for condensation to take place = loss of efficiency. Regarding how will crafted the Volcano is, there is no denying that the 'Cano is VERY well crafted, but when you say that nothing out there beats it, THAT is a false statement. There are other vapes out that are as equally well crafted. What I would agree with though is that the Volcano is the best crafted "bag" vape on the market.
I've heard great things about the VapeXhale Cloud It also depends ALOT on how you want to use it, glass, whips, direct draw, bags, etc Since you're looking for vaporizer specific info, check out fuckcombustion.com, a TON of info there Do some good research of course before buying a vape, I'm asumming you're getting sometimes you plan on keeping for 5+ years I do agree with lwien that the Cano is the one of the best "bag" vapes, but is that how you intend to vape all the time? Or do you prefer a whip, or running it through a water pipe, etc etc
I am somewhat compulsive... so this feature might be practical. I still want to hear from a Digit owner, though. Why'd you buy one over the classic, and is the extra $130 paying off or no?
There are a lot of vapes out there that are better than the volcano. The SSV/DBV/LSV and the Cloud are far superior devices IMO. Although if you are strictly looking for the best bag vape, then you are right with choosing the volcano.
