Kicking this off as i've not seen any current discussions with a similar subject. Intention is not to solicit discussion or debate as much as document history that promotes expansion of our narrow "programmed" thinking. This going back since the republic was established but somehow overlooked in history textbooks it appears. Not sure when this was recorded but likely 2002 not long after 911 and the NSA was empowered.
    Civil liberties include:
    • The right to free speech
    • The right to privacy
    • The right to remain silent in a police interrogation
    • The right to be free from unreasonable searches of your home
    • The right to a fair court trial
    • The right to marry
    • The right to vote
    ----------------------
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, Congress passed and President Bush signed the USA Patriot Act—legislation intended to thwart the threat of domestic terrorism. Critics were quick to denounce USA Patriot as a dangerous expansion of government power at the expense of our civil liberties. Are the critics right? Or can we win the war on terrorism without sacrificing our civil liberties here at home? And what has the American experience in earlier crises, such as the Civil War and the two world wars, taught us about balancing national security and personal freedom?

  4. Indeed, those who sacrifice essential liberty for the illusion of security will end up with neither. Our framers understood as much and attempted to codify this into our Constitution and Bill of Rights. The continued, unchecked expansion of the central government naturally leads to the reduction of liberties in order to maintain the status quo.

I think the reason you don't see discussion on topics like this is simply because the politics section is a shell of what it once was.

The patriot act is nothing short of a travesty.

  5. I am not a conspiracy theory person but that anthrax shit they pulled to get the patriot act passed was a inside job

  6. I don't know if it's too much of a conspiracy afterall. Joe Biden introduced a bill in 1995 that was basically the barebones of what eventually became the Patriot Act.

According to Ron Paul - congress was itching for a reason to get it through and they were given a big one. He has also stated that his colleagues did not even read the bill but wanted to give the illusion to their constituents that they were taking effective action to combat terrorism.

    Pretty sad.

  8. Well it appears that 6 of my biggest fans (or trolls, take your pick) have dropped some feedback... unfortunately they are on the ignore list so i can't see their contributions... Can only assume they watched the entire video...

Adding another video here by of course a controversial person from MSNBC (at least at the time as i don't follow her)... i will be the 1st to admit she does appear to have a more masculine persona than a lot of men...so save that one por favor...

The video was recorded in 2013 ten yrs after the start of the Iraq war but mentions early on a false flag going back to LBJ and Vietnam... Some feel both of these "wars" were illegitimate as the USA was not under an actual ongoing attack... troops were put in harms way as part of the Empire "Defense" program...

Please be nice with your interactions with fellow blades so this thread may exist for a time... Once again, for my fans (or trolls) i cannot see what you say here so not speaking for myself but for others on the gag a urr i mean "ignore" list...

This is what the person who uploaded the video stated on Y.T. under show more...

"This is going to likely be a rather controversial documentary about the War in Iraq, and what is described as the false pretenses that caused our nation to enter our most unpopular war since Vietnam. I am posting this with no intention of insulting members of the military, in fact it's the exact opposite. After watching films like this and Academy Award nominee "No End in Sight" I can't help but be discouraged by the lack of leadership in a time of national and global crisis."

  9. of course they were itching...just like they were to pass the section 702 FISA renewal...BEFORE the nunes memo came out. Snakes...almost all of em. And even though this knowledge is in the public space..people still want to take guns away. Its fucking insanity....really.
    Ruby Ridge.....Waco....
people need to study some fucking history for real. Theres a reason the second amendment was the second and not the tenth. And it wasn't just because it sounded good, or that is the one amendment they "fucked up".

  10. This one is better than HUBRIS but i hadn't watched it before... should appeal to more conservatives and of course shade tree "patriots" that fly the flag freely and chastised those "taking a knee" even though they know Irag was an illegal attack... little "W" kept chanting "i'm a wartime president, i'm a wartime president, i'm a wartime president" in order to justify his rhetoric about WMD's (that btw, didn't exist)...

the CORPORATE-MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL-IMPERIALIST STATE needed a war to keep CORPORATE SOCIALISM (Corp. Capitalist Cartel) afloat... any war... 911 was beyond convenient, almost as if it was planned or at least condoned.... (plenty of evidence pointing there too, but i digress)...
    A bit about the video...
    -------------
Bush administration forced the United States into a war so poorly prepared and executed it soon turned into a complete catastrophe. The fact of how the bureaucrats misled the country has been already expressed, but they couldn't have done it by themselves; they needed an obedient and docile press, to propagate their disinformation as actual news and encourage them to continue to do so. Since then thousands of people have perished, and many are suffering and dying to this day. Yet the story of how the media was sold to the White House has not been elaborated in depth.

If we look back at the moments before the invasion, we'll see that the US media relinquished its liberty and doubt to a great extent to accompany the US government in advancing to war. Two weeks before he'll command America to war, President Bush calls a media conference to convince the people for removing Saddam Hussein from power. His administration has been persistent to associate Iraq with 9/11. Many times during this meeting he will call upon 9/11 and Al Qaeda to legitimize a deterrent attack on a country that has not assaulted America. The seed of this story lies in the terror of 9/11...

Like everyone else media was bewildered by the horror and havoc on that day. As people responded to the barbarity of a terrorist attack a flood of unity spread across the country. And as the military prepared to attack the terrorists, there was almost zero tolerance for condemnatory inspection by the media. Walter Isaacson was then Chairman and CEO of CNN. When American forces attacked the terrorist in Afghanistan, the media across the country started to report the civilian casualties. But soon, the "patriot police" came and started to influence the news. Isaacson sent his staff a memo: "it seems perverse" he said, "to focus too much on the casualties or hardship in Afghanistan." And he instructed his employees to balance the images and stories of civilian killings with reminders of September 11th.
