Propaganda Against marijuana needing to stop

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by Smokinmeds, Feb 1, 2011.

  1. As many stoners and even non stoners know, alot of things said about marijuana is rumors, check out abovetheinfluence.org and read the facts about marijuana. Now go to abovetheingnorance.org and read the facts. Notice the differences? I believe before we can even hope of world wide or even nation wide legalization, we need to undo the myths and rumors about marijuana. Instead of just stating our positions on the matter, we need to make our voice loud, make commercials, marchs, posters, movies. They made it illegal this way, let's make it legal the same way. Who's with me?

  2. good idea but who's gonna put marijuana advocacy on the tv? and im wit ya 132%

  3. Well if I had enough money, I would without even thinking about it. There's meth commercials and lots of other anti drug commercials, but we all know most of it against marijuana is lies, so I think if we started fighting our side of "the war on drugs" us pro-marijuanaists might actually win, we already almost did in california

  4. So you are for the propaganda FOR marijuana, but not against it.

Abovetheignorance is the opposite twin of abovetheinfluence.

    Sorry Scapris

  5. I agree, there isnt enough PRO MJ propaganda, most of us stoners have to find out personally. We just don't have the funding, this herb don't buy itself! But, if it were legal, this herb wouldn't be so damn expensive.... hell, we could just grow it!

  6. honestly I see just as many people who believe untruths about marijuana who are stoners as in the general public. So many stoners seem to think weed is a panacea, and has no ill-effects. . Neither of which are true. We need to focus on spreading FACTS not just our own pro-mj propaganda.

  7. I agree completely, I don't think we should LIE to make marijuana legal, we should state the truth. Because even the truth is alot better then the very common lies on places like abovetheinflence.com. For example: smoking marijuana is 4X worse then smoking tobacco. This MAY be true, but most cigarette smokers smoke around a pack a day, only 1% of Americans smoke marijuana daily(I believe this is true, I heard this from multiple places so forgive me if I'm wrong) so basically it may be worse but it's less smoked, meaning less damage. AND if u vaporize, I believe there is almost no damage to the lungs. It should also be stated that smoking anything is bad for u. Including marijuana.

  8. No, u heard me wrong, and actually abovetheignorance.com IS NOT a propaganda site, and it does not promote the use of marijuana, it is a fact only site, I'm almost positive of this. I'm saying we should have commercials and more websites and more marches but well tell te TRUTH read ^that post for for detail

  9. Well, I didn't see one negative thing about cannabis on that site so I wouldn't say it's not a propaganda site.

  10. Well they don't want marijuana to look bad, naturally. BUT I'm almost positive everything stated about marijuana on that site is true, it'd only be propaganda if it wasn't, and I disagree I'm sure I can find bad things about marijuana, for example it says on the FAQ that marijuana has a chemical similar to estrogen, meaning marijuana makes u act more like a women while high, that's negative if u ask me.

Thats why its a propaganda site.

ATI tells the truth too, but it wont post anything positive about it. Everything they have is backed up as with abovetheignorance. Even still, both twists their info to make it sound better or worse than it really is

You dont want to admit its a propaganda site because you believe in it.

    Abovetheinfluence- Anti-cannabis
    Abovetheignorance- Pro-cannabis

For it not to be a propaganda site it must list both positives and negatives. I have seen many sites and the only one I can say is not a propaganda site, and publishes info in a non-biased form is www.erowid.org

  12. im more concerned with the prohibition against marijuana needing to stop. fuck the dumb shit.

I don't mean to be a hater or seem mean or rude but what u said makes no sense,
abovetheignorance is yes promarijuana but u cannot say that both sites tell the truth because alotta
of things said on abovetheinfluence are lies. For example: marijuana has no medical benefits(idk if
this is actually from there but I believe last time I was on I saw that, and te dea states this) this is
OBVIOUSLY a lie because my dad had cancer which they removed via surgery, he now lives his life
with chronic pain, guess what gets him through the day. Marijuana. It also temporary cures glaucoma
and it saves the lves of aids patients with no appetite. There's one lie, How bout this one: marijuana
is addictive, more teens are diagnosed and treated with marijuana dependency than all other illicit
drugs combined(straight from abovetheinfluence.com). Do I even have to try to prove that one wrong,
I think it's quite obvious that this is a lie because I have honestly never heard of ANYONE goin to
rehab or other drug treatment program for JUST marijuana. Let's do another one: heavy marijuana
users are more likely to be diagnosed with schrozophrenia then non users(once again
abovetheinfluence) if u believe this is true, find me ONE marijuana user that has schrozophenia that
had no previous symptoms and can confirm it is most likely from marijuana use. Also read all of this(it starts but supporting this saying) http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2005559,00.html There's alot I could find but my point is abovetheignorance I don't believe lies, while abovetheinfluence does. I know they do, even if it's only for somethings

  14. VHP (very high post)

prohibition...serious bullshit. No matter how tall their horse might be, I'll still be fuckin higher than all those who demonize a simple plant.

  15. Word to that brother, another thing, I hear ALL the time "marijuana is bad because it has over 400chemicals in it" marijuana is a plant, plants are living things, u wanna know what else has hundreds(maybe even thousands) of chemicals? HUMANS. Suck on that propaganda spreaders

  16. I agree 100%. This whole "above influence" propaganda/movement is complete bullshit that make cannabis use look like freakin reefer madness. We really need to start running our own advertising campaign. I'm tellin yah, if only I had the money...

Also, thanks for the link to that site man!

  17. To abovetheignorance? Yea great site man. I think it's awesome that it has a link to grasscity Hahaha. But all the propaganda against marijuana pretty much started with reefer madness. And that movie was retarded! Like three of em are smoking joints, and then the guy goes like crazy and starts playing piano and singing and shit. Can't believe people buy that shit

ok your turn. what are its "ill-effects"?

  19. You're actually wrong about the addictive part.

I was in rehab for 28 days and there was a girl there who was addicted to
cannabis. She didn't do anything else. No alcohol or tobacco or other illicit
drugs. But she was severely addicted to cannabis.
