ProMix pH correction

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by volksball, Dec 31, 2018.

  1. Hi guys,

I have my plants in a ProMix potting mix. My runoff is always acidic as it is peat based. Any ideas how to properly correct pH in ProMix without using lime? I've heard that it can cause an array of issues.

I know it's not as easy as simply testing run off, getting a 5.0 reading, adding g 7.5 and ending with 6.3, but, am I on the right track?

    Thx and happy new year!

  2. Are you having issues you’re trying to correct?

What I mean is if you’re feeding 6.3 and all is good who cares what’s the run off ph is.

  3. I am. Yellow spots turning brown. Looks like cal lockout. Fed cal mag, no improvement. 20181231_195442.jpg 20181229_104620.jpg 20181229_104636.jpg 20181229_104703.jpg

  4. Is there any improvement? What are you feeding at ppm wise and how’s the ppm runoff if you’re checking.

  5. Yep, added CalMag and it all worked it self through. Not reading ppms, but I see no signs of concern and I feed em 6.3. 20190112_094704.jpg

  7. I feed mine roughly hydro ph range but maybe a little on the high side. 6.3ph sounds about perfect. I never measure my runoff.

Even though it comes with dolomite lime in the promix I blend an extra tbsp per gallon of mix along with about 20% extra perlite. Dolomite lime is a ph buffer and will help keep you in correct range. It's also a cal/mag supplement but has a slow breakdown so it helps if you blend extra from the start in your pot.
