  1. Hey all, what's up

I've been getting into prog rock recently when i toke and it's been great. I'm looking for any recommendations you guys can give as to who you like to listen to. I myself have become a big fan of King Crimson, and Dream Theater. I also found this great, though somewhat obscure band called Angels'in Heavy Syrup. Great stuff, check 'em out.

But again, what does the grasscity community recommend?
  2. Check out Can. Pretty amazing stuff from the 70s.
  3. Technically progressive death metal, but check out Opeth.

Lot of 70's prog rock influences in the band, though a lot of their songs feature death vocals as well as clean vocals.
  4. Between The buried and me =]]
  5. Progressive can cover a bit of ground, so I'll include a few of my favorite.

The Mars Volta, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, The Locust, The Fall of Troy, Hella, Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, Rush, Mastodon, Psyopus, Tool, Behold...The Arctopus, Dysrhythmia, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Squarepusher, Animal Collective, Tera Melos, Maps & Atlases...The list goes on and on. I think they're all spectacular, some of you may not. But nonetheless, they're all progressive bands/artists or have progressive tendencies.
