Professor giving me poor grades and I think I deserve better. Should I comment to him?

    We just got done handing in our mid-term so I don't want him to be against me when grading but these grades I'm getting in this bullshit class is ridiculous.
     
    First response paper I got a 75.  I didn't put a lot of effort in but it didn't require a lot of effort either.  It was a simple paper based on one article.  The article wasn't that long to begin with but we were to write a 3-4 page paper on it.  So I got a 75 which is really poor.  Not happy but whatever.
     
    Then we write our 2nd response paper and I get a 70 for it.  This one I feel I did a better job than the last.  We were to write a 3-4 page paper based on 2 short videos.  When I say short videos I mean short videos so there wasn't really too much to write about.

    I filled 3 pages though.  I can't believe I got a 70.  If I got under a B in this bullshit class it would be a joke.
    Do you think I should say something to him about this grade or just let it slide?  I was going to tell him we weren't given much information to write the paper to begin with so not sure what he's really expecting.

    ask your professor what exactly they were looking for in your writing that they didn't see?

    It sounds like you are still stuck in the work ethic of high school. If a teacher asks for a 3-4 page paper and you give him a so-so 3 pager, you deserve the grade

    I'm gonna have to do that.  He said I touched on many of the key points but my paper was "thin and anorexic."  So was the information in the 2 short videos.  It wasn't a research paper it was a response paper.  He posted 3 "exemplary" papers from the class so when I get a chance later I'm going to check theirs and see how it compares to mine.  I doubt it's the difference between a low C and a high A though.
     
    Where did I say it was a so-so paper?  3-4 pages is what was asked for and I did 3 full pages.  There's a problem with that?  Sounds like your heads stuck somewhere else.

    If you don't know what he's expecting and you "Filled the page" it really sounds like you don't know what you're doing.

    I was a terrible writer all the way until I got into college when I learned how to "Bull Shit". Now you might be saying, but slayer, I bull shitted my way through this paper in the first place. no... no... I mean... real college level manipulative act like you're smart bull shit. It takes practice.

    Finished reading paper 1 - omg what a fuckin joke that is.  Exemplary?  Give me a freaking break.
    The kid is rambling on about something he saw on cracked.com that is just the opinion of some writer.  He doesn't even remember where it came from (he puts that in parentheses) but cites the opinion regardless.  He then goes on to bash FOX news and says how they're always hating Obama and part of the problem.  I can't believe the bullshit I just read.
     
    2nd paper was pretty good but not "exemplary."  The person filled the paper with "I think".  The last sentence of their conclusion asks a question.  I see many problems with it.  Hard to believe thats a high A and mine is a low C.
     
    3rd paper was good but very scientific.  I'm definitely going to e-mail him.  He's an asshole for giving me a 70
     
     
    I just finished the mid-term which was 10 essay questions so I'm thinking if I should wait until after he grades that to say something because he may grade me lower.  He may grade me more fair though too.  Absurd for an intro level class.

    sounds like youre just not putting in the effort to be honest with you. what class is it? these short articles and videos are obviously on topics your professor feels strongly about. so approach them philosophically, draw a response that your professor wants to hear, not what you necessarily believe. and dont just write the same paragraph 8 times.

    True that.  Good tip.  I might've not done enough selling or didn't show myself to be interested enough.  I guess I had to bullshit and throw some shit on there about how I'm so passionate about this.  I realize these people were putting more of their opinion more but I didn't want to ramble too much on my opinion.  I may have messed that up by not being more opinionated on it.  Still I don't think that's enough to cut me down to a low C.  That's just bullshit.

    With your borderline psychotic ego I'd stay away from talking to your teacher. Why come to a forum and ask for advice if you're always correct about everything, the top 3 exemplary essays are nothing compared to yours, and you know more than the teacher?
     
     
    Bingo, but fuck me, my advice and my community college knowing ass. You need to not get so damn defensive and think outside of your ego for a second, realize what the top 3 papers had in common (Sounds like very opinionated), re-write your paper to your own opinion, then tell your teacher you think you deserve a better grade, if he wanted an opinionated paper he should've said that, and hand him your re-done opinionated paper.

    For one thing, the paper didn't require a lot of effort.  This is why I say I didn't put much effort, it was a bullshit response paper.  Now, being in college I'm not used to doing some bullshit elementary work.  I wrote a good solid paper on the information, but now I realize that in this bullshit class it requires bullshit response papers where you share your opinions on things that you are hardly educated on (watched 2 short videos prior).   I can bs too but I guess I was trying to make it better than it had to be.  So give me an almost failing grade for not ranting about how Fox news is too focused on Obama bashing rather than on issues of global warming.  I thought this was college, sorry.
    Was I write about community college?  Because like I said, you're not getting anywhere with bullshit papers.

    No, actually you weren't "write". But obviously you still don't understand what I mean about bullshitting papers, It was a little sarcasm but obviously it flew right over your head, but the people who liked my post I guess understood. 

    Also, do you realize how you gave so much little detail in your post in the first place, are we suppose to guess everything about you, your class, your writing tactics and topic?

    Your post was dumb as hell so I don't know who would "like" it honestly.  Your post is all over the place anyway.  You say I don't know what he's looking for but then say that "bullshit" is the answer to everything.  College has done nothing for you.

    Even AP classes in highschool require a deep level of analysis that your papers sound like they're lacking. Yes, it is a video resonse paper, but you need to state your opinion clearly and support that opinion with evidence or logic. Be passionate. If you're not at least pretending to be passionate in your writing, it will be plain. fucking. boring. You may be good at writing, however, you may also be falling into the trap of summarizing in an excruciatingly boring way, which most teachers hate. You can either take this advice or leave it, but just remember, your college professor likely knows eons more about writing than you do.

    ive definitely been in a similar situation kinda. one of my professor's blatantly graded her favored students better than others for the same quality of work, or even more disproportionately. it was fucked up. she was too young and emotional to be teaching a college level course on fucking communications
