Professional Photographers out there?

  1. If so what do you do? You don't need to say who or where Just a general idea. Freelance? or Contracted? Howd you obtain the job? Applying? or through a connection? I currently do some photo stuff for a local guitar shop doing stock photography for their website. Make about 150 a week or so... But I would like opportunities to shoot, how do I say this... more exciting things and getting paid still.

  2. freelance, only projects i want to work on as a photographer/artist.

dont make much money, alot the stuff i do is free of charge for friends, but i am starting to get more paying gigs as word of mouth spreads. I got a big post comin up for the stash jar. stay tuned.

  3. As far as getting more work as a freelancer, have a good portfolio (physical not digital) and just network and show your work to as many people as will look. If they dont need photos, give them a card and they will refer people to you if they think you can do what they need.

I recommend finding niche markets, and catering to them.

  4. Yeah I'm building myself up. Still need to buy a domain for my site. Get a blogspot going to direct even more people to the site and hit search crawlers.

I just wish it were as easy as, wow this guys really good...lets fly him to new york and see how he does.

One of my mentors got a gig for red cross through his church, had to pay his own way to some war torn African country but when he got back his pictures raised like 2 mill so they reimbursed him for costs and hired him on.

  5. Not professional yet. I have some paying gigs lined up though. Striding towards apprenticing at a local studio and eventually going in full freelance.
