Hi I'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if this is the correct place for a post like this but I came out of desperation. I just bought these 2 new bubblers from a local convenience store. I'm pretty sure they are both made out of glass but they have a plastic-like smell to them. When i take a lighter flame to them, they do not melt or burn but they smell of burning plastic. I read somewhere (chacha answers) that this can be caused by plastic bag storage. I just need more opinions. I spent a lot of money on these pieces and i want to be sure they're safe. Try soaking them in 91% iso for a day.. Then put a flame to it(after rinseing with water of course)!!!!! Sometimes there is a plastic coating on them when shipped.. I found it on some of my pieces
you spent a lot of money on 2 bubblers from a convenience store? think that's your problem right there

Its possible but typically if it feels like glass its glass. The iso soak was a good call. It might not take all the plastic off but it should make it obvious if there is a film of it on there or not. Also maybe add some epsom salt (if you have it). Test it again with a lighter before you pack a bowl.
