Problem progressing..

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by ogmarcus, Sep 3, 2017.

  1. A while back the fan leaves were turning yellow and dying off. Now the leaves around the buds are staring to turn yellow. The whole plants leaves are more of a light green. I just gave some nitrogen thinking that is the problem.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

  3. First off I wouldn't worry, it looks like just one branch from here....not an emergency. Secondly, if you want some well thought out answers I suggest you provide as much information up front as possible....or you will get a bunch of guesses or worse.
So how about providing the genetics, medium you're growing in, nutrients, water schedule, week of flower, any fixes you've tried etc.

  4. Well the strains are completely unknown, they are different from each other and the problems seem the same so that shouldnt matter much.

The soil that Im using is partly bagged organic soil, the rest is backyard dirt and old stuff from an outdoor flower pot.

Nutes are fox farms trio about every other watering, some cha ching and beastie bloomz too but the problems were before these two.

I try to keep my ph straight but I cant check runoff so I don't know if the soil is off. Half the time it's hard to keep the feed above 6 because I have no ph down. I only got a ph meter a couple months ago.

Flowers first appeared in the first week of august.

Only things ive tried are foliar feed of epsom salt and feeding grow big which I havent doe in a while

  6. Feed em!

    Bump your amino's.

  7. If they were mine I would be looking at foliar feeding them with a micro-nutrient package with a bit of N tossed in for good measure. Do it late in the day. I've used "Mineral Matrix" and it is good shit. Earth Juice "Microblast" is also a fair choice. The reason I'd foliar is because you have no clue what the pH is ....and if this is a lock out it's gonna be hard to get anything to uptake for a bit.

    hope ya figure it out.

  8. @beensmokin great advice. Make sure that N is in amino form IMO.

  9. I dont have any knowledge of aminos.

What should I invest in for the last month of my grow?

  10. I found mineral matrix online and im going to get that asap. What type of N should I get

  11. Pure protein dry, Ocean Grown, Ferti Nitro, Explorer are all good brands for aminos. NPK should be something like 15-0-0

  12. As the plant flowers, the leaves will start to yellow, and some even die. Usually starts with the ones on the bottom, and the older ones first. This is normal. Be careful not to harm your plants by trying to compensate for this. The best you can do is start with a good soil and add adequate water, and let it run it's cycles.
One thing I learned right here a couple years ago (can't remember who posted this) is to add high "P" guano in the soil mix. It really helps keep things much greener in the later stages of plant life. I got a late start this year and couldn't find any and notice a real difference.
But yellowing leaves during the flower stage is normal.

  13. You're not growing leaves anymore. At this point, you're growing flowers. Get it?

  14. I agree with everything you said Ronhip.

I do believe the level of yellow going on is advanced here, and should be corrected next grow. You mention higher P in flower, I also suggest N in ammino form come flower. Good advice. For this grow, P will be hard for the plant to uptake in time, so I was left suggesting N.

  15. I get it. But there is clearly something wrong because the yellow started before flower even did. Plus it's not just the fan leaves.

Im just gonna get that mineral matrix stuff and see how it goes.

  16. You state that you can't keep the feed above 6 because you don't have ph down? You would want to raise It. But anyways maybe you typed wrong. But, you can use some household stuff that you probably have in the pantry. To raise ph, you can use baking soda. To lower, use distilled white vinegar. Good luck with the rest of your grow. Hope you figure out the issue.

  17. Yea I meant ph up. I use lemon juice for ph down

  18. Next time.....plant in some know "soil"....Ocean forest/etc......and DON'T chase pH!! I freak out seeing all of the noobs here upping and downing and fretting and fucking shit up when there's NO need to do so. A GOOD potting mix should be fairly in the range you need...and if you know your water is also in range...there's no need to complicate things/cause problems for yourself by chasing pH. I have grown for over 25 years and only used pH pens/EC/tds pens when I did a few hydro grows. (got tired of that shit fast...LOL)

Less is more. pH up/down....or 29 bottles of nutrients is always gonna cause trouble. The worst part is that once you start chasing things...you don't really know WHERE you are at and 99.9% of the time...chasing all of it usually just makes things worse.

Hope ya figure it out/can right things, ogmarcus. If not...live and learn and do it again.

  19. You seem to know what you are talking about. One thing I don't know is what you mean by chasing. My water lies around 7.5 so I think putting it down some is necessary but either way it goes down when I add a certain nutrient.

lots of people on here will say that a ph meter is a necessity, I agree because if the feed is off and you dont know where it's even at, then you almost cant even grow right because of lockout

  20. I dunno know if I really know shit.....but I do know when to NOT mess with things. It just makes this game too hard...to unpredictable....and far too unsuccessful, IMO. Admittedly...I did the same thing (over-loved) to my grows as a noob. Mistake!

By "chasing"...I mean monitoring pH whatsoever. One day it's too low...so you add...then the next it's too high...so you go the other way/etc. For some....it's a constant cycle. That is what I deem "Chasing".

I disagree with those folks bigly. As I say...if you use the right soil mix....and you DON'T jack with pH (unless your plants tell you to via a deficiency/etc. you believe may be related to pH)...you can grow very successfully without a pH pen or pH up/down chemicals. Well designed/formulated soil is an incredible buffer if you allow it to do so. Some folks bag on FFOF soil...but I can honestly say I've never had a pH problem while using it unless >I created it myself.<

I try to KISS. (cus I can be stupid at times..LOL)

I start with FFOF....some VAM (microbes)....go a few weeks til i see em kick in...then start a good organic grow fert. When I flip, I hit them with VAM again....then start a bloom fert. I'm just on the brink of trying some (RAW) bloom specific/phosphorous/potassium fixing microbes...so we will see if those also become a fixture in the process...but needless to say...it really DOESN'T take a lot to grow this plant. Folks make it take a lot....but in reality...it is straight up if you allow it to be so.

TIME and EXPERIENCE is the key, always. Not saying problems won't arise....they will...but to create problems...well..that's something I try not to do anymore.... LOL.

FWIW.....I grew for over 20 years in a home with tap water that was @ 7.7 without any problems.

Advice: >>>>>>>>IF<<<<<< you are going to chase pH...get the right pH up/down. Vinegar, lemon juice/etc. suck and are not made for such things long term.

    good luck dude!
