I switched from rockwool to Pro Mix as my medium in my hydro system recently. (It is a top feed / return to res system) and am keeping the res PH at the same levels as I did with the rockwool (as close to 5.8 as possible) and all seems OK Had someone recently suggest PH levels should be higher as he considers it soil. I look at it as just another soilless medium I am using for my hydroponic system. I have searched many sites and find no conclusive answer to what the PH should be. (One forum poster said he contacted the company that makes Pro Mix and they said 5.8 is what they reccomend) Would appreciate input from experienced growers on this topic.
I've always used pro mix, it's a soilless medium, it's mostly peat moss and vermiculite if you're using the bx formula. Keep it at 5.8 if you're using it in a hydroponics system. If using it as a soil type medium I'd raise that to around 6.3. But the best bet is to keep an eye on everything and adjust accordingly. Let me know how it goes
I use the bx at ph 5.5 to 5.8 should a raise?i am still learning and i guess ive never really had a ph problem until now if you look at my thread i posted youll see that debocle but this could help too maybe my plants will get better?
