A professional downhill mountain biker from Durango pleaded guilty Monday to maintaining a sophisticated marijuana-growing operation.
Myles Rockwell faces up to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to felony cultivation of marijuana in a plea agreement with the District Attorney's Office. If District Judge Jeffrey Wilson accepts the plea agreement, Rockwell will spend three years on probation.

Sentencing is set for 9:30 a.m. Feb. 25 in District Court.

On May 11, authorities seized 52 "high quality" sinsemilla plants from Rockwell's home at 1385 Avenida del Sol in Durango.

Rockwell has competed in mountain bike races around the world. He won a World Cup downhill championship in 2000 in Spain.

Investigators for the Southwest Drug Task Force, along with uniformed officers from the Durango Police Department and the La Plata County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant at Rockwell's home.

Inside the home, investigators found a "hydroponic and fully automated indoor marijuana cultivation" operation, according to the task force.

"The seized marijuana was determined to be of extremely high quality," according to a news released issued at the time of the arrest by the task force.

Investigators estimated the street value of the plants at more than $200,000.
