This is my first post on Grasscity so I'll start by saying hello! I've been interested in growing marijuana for about six months now. I've been reading several books on marijuana business and growing, in particular I've been reading The Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green. Because in my state that growing cannabis is still illegal, I haven't tried my own hand at growing yet. So I've been looking to relocate. I have a few places in mind, but my question really isn't about location or any of that. In recent reading online, I came across a few articles talking about how many banks are backing out of the cannabis business and rejecting accounts and loans. So it struck me that there might be a market for private investing! So I dug a little through google, which has lead me here. I didn't find much of anything substantial; a lot of talk about how there "might" be a market for it, but it's kept really hush hush right now. Clearly, I'm not even sure if much of this is plausible myself. I'm not very educated in business, but I'm learning. The question is: Could I find a private investor to fund my efforts to relocate and start a legal farm, and how exactly could I go about that? Thanks.
Uh, I highly doubt it if your grow is illegal. If you fuck off with their cash they don't really have any viable options
No chance dude. As long as its illegal on a federal level business of that sort will be limited. Hypothetically, why would I, a wealthy investor, want to help you, someone who doesn't know about growing/farming, relocate and fund you the entire way while you learn? What's more, in an industry that's illegal. There's waaaay too much risk to potential reward.
Not trying to kill your dream but what you're proposing makes little to no sense to an investor. There's millions and millions of Americans who already live where it's legal trying to do what you wanna do , so having someone pay to relocate you wouldn't even be an option unless you already have a product that's patented or no one else knows how to make. If they wanna invest in a farm in Let's say CO. they would buy one there and hire one of the kajillion cannibis farmers in search of work. There's many other reasons why your idea is flawed however if this is your dream I would first gather as much info on legally growing and distributing. Then info on where it's most likely going to be legal next, then move there. The Dank Knight
Heres what i know. There are things called colectives. If you join one and you gain trust you have options available, such as investing for a return or even helping on a farm. I had a neighbor, hes a twin. He invested 3 grand in one dispensary. His twin invested in another. At the end a few months later his return was 6k. His brother invested 1200 and that farm didnt do as well, his return was 600. So like i said there are options, but unless youve got a ton of experience growing and unless you bring something unique to the table, nobody is going to sponsor some guy with a dream, without some or all of the above. I grew for ten years before i started seeking sponsors. -poke
