Preserving Bud

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Jrod851, Dec 7, 2021.

  1. Hello All,

Thank you to everyone for being so helpful with my previous questions. My grow was a success.

I am wondering how best to preserve my buds? I'm worried they will go bad before I can smoke it all.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

  2. 1. Cure properly to optimum moisture content.
    2. Pack into a glass jar. Do not fill too full.
    3. Put in the refri. Weed keeps perfectly at 4C for several months. Check every week at first to make sure no mould has started. Do not freeze bud!

  3. I keep mine cured in jars in a cool dark space for up to two years. There is a slow decline in quality and appearance after the first year. After the year mark I use for baking only generally.

  4. Think Boveda Packs.

  5. Canning jar. Cool dark place (like a basement). It will be good for several years.

  6. I cure it for like 6 weeks around 62 Rh. I than dry down to around 58 when I go for long term like 4 months or more! Weed can ferment! Not a good thing

  9. I like the grove bags for short term curing after drying (normally around two weeks). It saves daily burping of a bunch of jars. After it gets to the optimal level (around 60%) I drop a 58% Boveda pack into a one quart mason jar with around an ounce, seal it and put it in a closet. I even made some stackable crates that will hold six quart mason jars for storage. I have some that is over two years old that is still in very good condition.

  10. The best I've done is about a year. Then everything is an ugly brown. This is storing in my closet in 32 ounce mason jars. Think I might try a couple jars in the fridge this year as mentioned.

“It is concluded that carefully prepared herbal or resin cannabis or extracts are reasonably stable for 1 to 2 years if stored in the dark at room temperature.”

Basically, you want to store your cannabis in a cool, dark place in an air-tight container. I use mason jars and keep them in the file drawer of my desk.

  12. How long can you store them at sub zero?
