prescription eye drops

    My buddies gf has really bad allergies and her doctor gave her some prescription eye drops and she doesn't like them so she is giving them to us. Would it be all right to use these because i have to assume there is a reason you can't buy these without a prescription.

    why would you want to?
    5 measly bucks gets you visine or clear eyes or any of the other 100 drops u can get nowadays

    well they are prescription and they are free. well for us.

    if they dont make redness go away, I wouldnt use them
    kinda no point

    i'm not bothered by red eye, but i use eye drops because my eyes are always uncomfortably itchy after toking. from experience, perscription eye drops will make it look like someone painted on the whites of your eyes and no more scratching!

    yes you can use the drops, but do you know name of the drops? livostin and emadine won't help you much because they are just topical anit-histamines.

    decongestant drops also called vasoconstrictors will help decrease the redness and irritation and these are your clear eyes, visine... but you can get prescribed decongestants with anti-histamine such as naphcon-a, vasocon-a, opcon-a, ocuhist and these will help get the red out of your eyes.

    but if your friend got a mast-cell stablilzer drop, well then those won't help you too much because they have no immediate effect, instead you must start using these drops 10 days before allergy symptoms hit. this type of drop is primarily for the relief control of allergic conjuctival symptoms of itch, irritation, and redness. most likely drops like this are patanol, zaditor, elastat, and optivar.

    so i guess its hard saying if these drops will help you much since i don't know what kind of drop your friend was prescribed. yes you can use these and you will be fine, but im not sure if they will get the redness out like you are hoping for. peace
