Preparing to Grow - Second Time

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by TenderVittles, Oct 26, 2006.

  1. Hello everybody, I'm new to these forums. I am getting ready to grow soon. This will be the second time growing. The first time I planted a seed outside and it eventually died (overwatering). Now I am growing inside. I am growing in soil with 40 watt 2 CFL's. I have a few questions. Is a 7 inch wide, 9 inch deep pot big enough for a plant? Also, what are the light cycles. I have looked everywhere and I can't find out how long I have to put it on 24/0, then 18/6, and 12/12 for. Can someone please help me out?

  2. The pot is big enough to start in, but not big enough to finish in. You may want to start more than one plant (or are you?), it would suck to grow out one plant for it to be male.

For veg 24/0 or 18/6 are good. When the plants are of good size and you want to flower them go to 12/12.

Honestly, you should read some grow guides before asking questions in the forum. I think the light cycles are covered in almost every grow guide. But im glad to help.

  3. Wow... sorry for asking such a noobie question.. It must be because whenever i go on this site i am either stoner or burntout. I thought there was some time limits you had to put the plants on. I didnt know you had to grow until you wanted the right size. i thought you grew it until it was mature, but then when it was mature you would change to 12/12. i think it makes sense now. sorry if this doesnt make sense. i am still ripped but thanks alot man

  4. No need to apologise :). Normally you should wait till the plant matures, but you dont have to wait. Keep in mind some strains double in size when you switch to 12/12.

  5. as for when you switch to 12/12, stonie's right when they are the size you want them to be(ain't many strains you can let go to normal maturity). It really depends on the hieght of your grow area and what type of traning/growing strategy you plan on using. most plants can be switched as early as 2 weeks, of course only if you have adequate lighting i.e. 400 watt hps.

  6. Thanks alot for all the responses guys, this has helped alot. And reading over my previous posts, they didn't make much sense. Thanks alot.
