Hey guys, I am growing a ak-48 and a northern lights plant in my pc grow box. my question is that I have been flowering these 2 plants for about 16 days but I have not yet seen any signs of a male or a female plant. I see no white hair, and I see no male sacks or anything. The light is 11 ON/ 13 OFF and is set on a timer that turns on at 9pm and turns off at 8am. (usually because I am home at night in the evening and leave my house in the morning for my uni lectures and what not. I am concerned b/c I read and seen videos where people notice the sex of the plant withing like 6 days into flowering but I also read that it takes about a week to 2 weeks to notice and gender of the plant. Can someone help me out, I have been waiting eagerly to find out the sex of my babies. any help will be appreciated. Thanks
I've always been able to sex between 5 and 9 days but ive read it can be longer. What kind of lights are you using? Hang in there i guess? Patiance is often the hardest part of growing, for me anyway
an hour darkness would not really make that much of a difference. But how long have you veg for because it sounds like they are not mature enough or you have a light leak somewhere which is causing it to not flower
It doesn't really matter. 12/12 is not the only timing that can be used, it's just the most common. Some strains flower fine with 13 ON / 11 OFF, etc. This. I'm guessing you are trying to flower immediately from seed...
A little basic botany here. A mj plant will not show sex until it is mature. This happens ~5-8 weeks from seed, REGARDLESS of the light schedule. 12/12, 18/6, 24/0, it doesn't matter if they aren't old enough. It would be like trying to force a menstrual cycle in a 5 YO girl it's not going to happen. There are no tricks or shortcuts, just internet myth. Wet
Hey all, I don't suspect any light leaks. The ak-48 has been veg'd for 2 weeks on a 24/0 light schedule. The northern lights plant was veg'd for about a month on 18ON/6OFF at my friends place. It was my plant that I gave to my friend, but now he gave it back due to some reasons. Long story short. He told me the lights went ON at 3pm and went off at 7AM just before he left for school. After I got the plants, I had the lights turned off for 36 hours straight and then switched the timing to 11 ON/ 13OFF. I was reading a different post and ganjaluvr posted " \t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhen flowering the plant indoors, 12 hours light and 12 hours dark is the standard lighting cycle during the flowering phase. However, 13 hours light and 11 hours dark will increase flower size (larger yield) while still allowing the plant to flower. But this will lengthen the time needed to harvest the crop. An extended period of darkness can also be substituted for the standard 12-12 cycle. 11 hours light and 13 hours dark will reduce the time needed for the crop to mature and harvest, but it will also reduce the size of the crop. I currently have my two Nirvana 'Ice' plants, they're both currently on a 11/13 cycle.. but tomorrow is the end of week #2 flowering, and the start of week #3 flowering. And starting in the morning, I'm switching my lights down further.. to a 10/14 schedule until its time to harvest. Hope my input helped you out some. Peace." I also think my ak-48 is not mature since i started to flower it after vegging for 2 weeks on 24/7. Should I just wait, any tips or advice? I will try to take pictures tonight once the light goes on. The Northern lights plant was really big when i got it, but wen it was on 11on/13off I cut the bottom leaves/ branches and some fan leaves to get the light to the main grow area's. I thought this might cause some stress and the plant might need another 3 days to recoup the trim. I have a hard time waiting paitently lol but I guess I'm going to have to. Please any advice would be appreciated. I'll try to get some pics up by tonight hopefully. Thanks, all \t\t\t\t\t\t
