ppm testing

  1. I was under the impression that ppm testers for your nutes were very expensive.
Would something like this work or is this not accurate enough?
TDS Meter 0-9990 ppm for Aquariums Pools Hydroponics

It says for use in hydroponics as well.
Also, how do you check the ppm of your soil. I read that you should test your runoff, but then some growers don't use pots with holes isn't that correct? How would you the nute strength of your soil?

  2. Don't test runoff, it's no where near accurate enough to know what is going on. Test the nute mix DIRECTLY!

Try out this tool - Bluelab Truncheon

This is the metre I use, and it has done the job for 2 years now, and has never failed me yet (knock on wood)...

  3. You test the runoff to see what your soil ph and tds is at. Its different from testing your feed.

  4. Ah, if that's what you were talking about, then yes, test the runoff... Sorry didn't read your post properly, smoked a bit too much today.

  5. You have to have holes in your pots...

  6. hey how would u know what ur ppm levels shud be? Just order a truncheon reads ec ppm and summit else cnt say make at the minute not at home to see lol. Ive got other questions if u dnt mind answerin them?
