Hey ! I've been advised to get a TDS meter and start measuring PPM of water/nutrient mix. I'm using general hydroponics flora series as well as a cal-mag supplement. Found a drain to waste chart (growing in pro-mix hp) for my nutrients which gives PPM ranges for stages of growth. How do I know how much each ml of nutrient is adding to TDS/PPM? Example: Say the water is at 100ppm.... according to the nutrient chart for early veg growth it says ppm should be between 500-700 total...it also says how many ml of each nutrient to add at this stage but wouldn't it vary depending on the ppm of the water you are using? If ppm of water was 50 I would have to add more nutrients than if ppm was 100 right? so not to repeat myself but how would I know how many ml of nutrients to add to make that 100ppm equal 500-700pm Any advice or strategies regarding mixing nutrients to get the desired PPM would be awesome, sorry if my question wasn't clear or doesn't make sense and thank you in advance
How old are your plants. Seedlings can go for weeks without food. The cotyledons will yellow when its dinner time.
plants are in their 4th week of growing from seed in a semi-soilless medium. Okay I will look out for that but then comes the question of how much do I actually feed them (which is what this ppm stuff is all about if i am not mistaken)
I used lucas formula. I started at 1/3 strength and stopped at 2/3 but it coulda taken more. With a low output led id do 5ml micro 10/ml bloom a gal. So a third would 5ml M 10ml B in 3 gal. Ppm shud be well under 500
interesting, i will have to look into the lucas formula. Do you use a TDS meter or just the lucas formula strategy (edit) - i guess the point of the formula is to not have to do ppm readings? by the way im using tap water
Just start to put one teaspoon into 1 Gal of water, mix it a bit and then check. You will get an idea real qucik. For mine I know that 1 Teaspoon into 1 Gal of Brita filtered water gets me to about 400PPM
I use maxibl oom never check ppm the same with advanced nutrient it's pH purrfect your water if it's 100 ppm great I feed the hell out my plants I also use.not with chemicals it's organic I never check ppm the important p is PH 6,5-7 is fine check it get test drops.easy or I use.test strips 100 for couple bucks super.easy good luck Sent from my Alcatel_5059R using Tapatalk
