Alright so I'm more experienced and figured starting to look at PPM might not be a bad idea. I know it will vary, but does anyone have a reliable semi conservative chart for ppm recommendations for an auto? My tap water is at 245
Hi buddy, when I grow in NFT I use a 20L reservoir so it's sensitive as fuck and you can really see what the plants taking in. Not including the tap water First 2 weeks 200 ppm is plenty then the amount they actually absorb from the solution rises by around 100ppm per week until they go into bloom. Once In bloom it stays steady then drops dramatically around week 4 or 5 once the buds are properly formed and they're just packing on weight. Maybe down to about a quarter of what they were on and it's mostly just p and K so just cut the Base nutes right down and start the booster. They kinda try to flush themselves too. if you keep the ppm steady you'll see that they barely take in anything the last 2 weeks anyway. 200 ppm or so. 245 ppm for tap is pretty high. You might want to consider a cheap RO water system, something like PureWaterClub.com Nute burn and light burn can stifle autos. It's dangerous to use more than 1/2 the nute manufacturer's ppm. Don't trust the manufacturer's light distance either. Just keep them happy looking, and that doesn't take much light or food.
So far I haven't taken the risk with tap water. Always used filtered water which is like 12 ppm. Filtered right from the fridge (let it warm before using). My filteres are like 6 bucks a piece replaced every 6 months or so. Overall it sounds like a good idea to just keep using filtered water and monitor the nutes with the ppm
With your starting ppm i woul run around 1000ppm in flower. My water comes out of the tap at 170ppm and from there i go to about 650ppm max in veg and 1100 in flower. Got to read your plant though cause they are all different.
