We had a scheduled power outage last night. The time of the power outage was for 11 pm to 4 am. My lights in both my veg and flower area turn off at 11pm which worked fine, power didn't get shut off till after 11 pm. This morning I went down at 5 to adjust the timers back to the right time and got them turned on. My led flowering light is ran through wifi so I figured that one would be the safe bet but I was wrong. The light was on for about an hour and a half during it's 12hr dark cycle. I unplugged the light since I couldn't get control of it through the app. So I'm planning on leaving the lights off in the flowering area for 12 hrs today and only having them run for 6hrs today to get back on schedule and make sure they get their 12hrs of darkness. I'm sure the damage is already done but figured I would see if anyone has some idea of doing it better. Lesson learned for me, no wifi plug straight into timer. Plants have been flowering for 6 weeks and they are from crop kings which Ive read about people getting Hermie's from them already so I may just be fucked anyway. No worries, dont go messing with the light cycle Lol kinda doesn't work that way. I'm starting to think hermies dont exist as much as people claim. Maybe they are newer growers and get a male seed and think it's a hermie when its actually male. I've tortured plants only ball sacks I can get are the ones under controlled production with tiresias mist.
A single event will have zero effects. It would take a week or more of repeated events to even start to affect things. BNW
What doesn't work that way? So turning it on back at regular time would be fine, no need for 12hr dark time to make sure it stays in flowering. I was going to get it back on the same schedule again and sacrifice 6hrs of light today so I guess I'm confused by what you were saying. Sent from my BE2028 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I got burnt by the wifi controller. I thought "way easier then setting another mechanical timer and this one will always know what time it is." We live we learn. Yes and no on being built into the light. The controller is mounted to the light but there is a control box that is attached with a surprising long cable. It has the wifi built into it that you can use with an application or you can control the intensity with a button to change 25% intervals. I added a picture of it. It does have some cool features on the app and honestly that's the first time I had any problems. I dont loose power often though so I may reconsider and just revise my power out plan accordingly. Especially if it's not a huge deal if the light cycle gets messed up once. Sent from my BE2028 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
you're good no need to mess with the light schedule just resume like it never happened. plus 6 weeks is pretty deep into flower so if it does seed they likely won't be mature enough to really effect your grow.
Wow things are getting high tech these days. I Guess some of those features are handy. Just seems silly to trust your modem to always be time synced when they are always reseting or jumping time zones after a hard reboot or power outage.
I was definitely hesitant about using it. I started when we went out of town for a few days and I could monitor temp and could at least turn down intensity or completely off if it came to it. Made me feel better at least I guess. It also has like 10 timers on it which isn't necessary for me or this specific light but if it was able to throw out some crazy high ppfd I could move around my DLI by having intensity hitting harder during the middle of lights on and lower at the begining and end. More like a normal outside day. But I'm pretty comfortable at the 800 to 1200 it's getting now. It's an interesting feature. Sent from my BE2028 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
