Potentiators

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Magical Wizard, Dec 8, 2011.

  1. Is there a way to potentially potentiate pot pastries?

  2. As in, you want to improve their intensity or effect, after they've been made?

A canna frosting or glazing added on top would potentiate them further. :p Some folks like to spray hash oil on on their finished pastries, to add an extra kick and some rich 'moisture'.

But if you meant that you'd like to increase perceived potency with something besides cannabis, then lemongrass extract contains up to 25% myrcene (that's the popular shared terpene in cannabis and mangoes).

With the way many folks prepare their edibles, much of the valuable terpene content has been lost by the end of processing, and certain terpenes (particularly limonene and myrcene, both of which are available in lemongrass extract), are responsible for regulating and drastically improving the effect of cannabinoids, and they increase the rate at which cannabinoids cross cellular barriers.
Besides that, many of the terpenes in cannabis and other plants, have analgesic, sedative, anti-mutagenic/anti-cancer properties and other medicinal benefits, all of their own. :hello:

A cold-made frosting or glaze, made with lemongrass extract, absolutely bumps up the medicinal value of any cookie, cake or pastry. ;)

But to ensure you're getting "the most bang for your buck", before making an edible or oil, however, you need to be sure you're 1.) decarbing properly, 2.) starting with a quality pure oil source, and 3.) that you're processing as gently as possible, for a good amount of time. Common household oils are not usually the best, for processing cannabis...
Most common 'vegetable oils' contain only long-chain triglycerides, and very little saturated fat... when what you really want, would be the short and medium-chain triglycerides (in clarified butter, and coconut oil), and a lot of saturated fat!

The oil source you choose, dictates specifically where in your body cannabinoids are absorbed... your liver converts D9-THC, into the MUCH more powerful 11-OH-THC.
Choose the wrong oil, and you'll miss out on almost all the potentiating conversion that takes place in the liver, because your cannabinoids will be absorbed lymphatically for delivery to the bloodstream, versus through the portal vein and liver.
