shit the GFS 12z 204 hr fc looks pretty good for jersey, philly, massachusetts, etc...it's something to watch...any other weather watchers on here? 540 is typically the r/s line, and nj to ma are well below that. guess it kinda depends on how warm the atlantic ocean is too since thats where that damn low pressure system stays...if we could get it to track a bit closer to the coast... edit: apparently this isnt the right image, hang on
lookin better and better for the NE. looks like the GFS has a decent storm cookin for NJ, philadelphia, nyc etc. a few solid days of snow...
it def might just be a chilly rain. hard to tell at this point, GFS and Euro dont quite agree on the track or timing quite yet, but the GFS has the low pressure system dragging a lot of the colder air locked up in canada down to us. weather we get a good snowstorm out of this or not it is a sign of pattern change, which is good. its something to watch. might at least be some snow on the backside. but a few models are even showing 2-4" of snow as far south as central NC. we'll see. temps aint lookin TOO bad at the 850mb temps, specially interior PA, ohio virginia west virginia north carolina. bout -4/-5C at 5kft, so warm that up by 3-4C closer to the surface, might JUST be cold enough

The ground temps are down atleast so it wont cause a slushy mess like our last "storm" we had here. I thought for sure this was gonna be a brutal late fall/winter, but it is early yet.
there were signs in early/mid november of a very cold but dry early december, but our NAO/AO and PNA values didntline up like they were supposed to. we did get our -NAO/AO back, and its getting stronger. if we could get a +PNA going we'd have a perfect setup. one model is showing ridging in the pacific while the other is showung a trough, so like you said it is early yet.
