Is the light green edging of my leaves a sign of K-? I’ve given the plants 1 flush 6 days ago and watered at 1/2 nutrients yesterday. I’ve noticed a very slight green edging for the past couple weeks, but after the flush and 1/2 dose feed, it’s progressed. (P.S) I flushed because I see burnt tips on the leaves, and eagle clawing of Fan leaves so I assumed salt lock out or nitrogen toxicity. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated as I would like to flower these plants this weekend.
More so looks like a magmesium deficiency to me. here are google pics to compare cannabis magnesium deficiency - Google Search
I think you are correct! Here is a pic from 2 days after I took the first pics in this post. I know it’s a bit purple, but I think you will agree the magnesium deficiency progressed heavily, and they need some magnesium. What is my best option? Maybe a cal mag product? I really appreciate your input you may have saved my plants.
I dont see a pic, try again. Yes, you want to get a CAL MAG product. I got this one when I had some deficiencies, but rebottled from a third party seller, because I thought I didnt need that much. Was like $8 re-bottled. But I'm sure any CAL MAG product will work, you should get something quick. There might also be other ways to do it, you just have to google. Maybe there are natural products incase you grow organic, but thats not my area yet. Fox Farm and General Hydroponics also have CAL MAG products. Good luck and update pls
I use liquid nutrients in soil. I will grab a bottle of cal mag right now lol On my way to the hydro store.
Yea that should fix it going forward at least. The leafs which are affected won't change back, but new growth will be nice and healthy. This probably slowed down overall growth anyways, so expect it to pick up again when you start feeding the CAL MAG. Just make sure to not OVERFEED it now either
Main reason why I didn't suggest Cal/Mag is I do not know if you are already supplying calcium, and the deficiency looks more magnesium vs calcium, which often rears its head as brown spots on the leaves. But they can run hand in hand. Mg is the #1 deficiency in container gardening, and consider weed is a very very very magnesium consuming plant, and is also not stored in the plant, so must me constantly supplied, or is quickly depleted. Epsom Salts also supplies Sulfur.. Ie Magnesium Sulfate, which Sulfur is also very important for immune system, and late season terpene production. Weeks 5-6 in an 8 weeks flowering strain. Sulfur is also the precursor for Vitamin B1.
how do you feed that epson salt? Do you crush is and mix into the water? How much do you give per Gal?
Mix a single teaspoon into a gallon of water(or nute solution). No need to crush it, dissolves perfectly well. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Idk man. I had a plant that was in MG hot soil and was fine until I got too high and fed it nutes on accident. Looked dead on yours but worse. Plant eventually snapped out of it. Also my soil plants never need cal mag. My coco on the other hand. I'm gonna say nute burn. Sorry
i actually don’t provide my plants with any calcium or magnesium. I only use the base nutrients from this manufacturer, a compost tea, and silica. So I think the cal mag product was necessary. I’ve only been giving 1G of water per plant, which took FOREVER using milk jugs to measure nutes and ph. Yesterday I installed an RO system with a 27G reservoir and 6GPM transfer pump, which allowed me to properly measure nutes and ph and thoroughly saturate the plants all in about 30 mins. I also installed an 8in in-line fan in conjunction with my 6in exhaust to push cool air into the room to keep temps between 73-83f. Lastly, I will add Epsom salt to my regiment! I think these actions are the solution to my problems. Thanks for your input!
Here are pics of the ro system ! I forgot to mention I have been using tap water left to sit for 24-48 hours to dechlorinate. So now I have ready-to-go RO water at my leisure.
Remember Reverse Osmosis water is at first 7.0 PH, but if left exposed to air, will react with co2, and will stabilize to 5.5. Just a heads up. Distilled does the same thing. Also Reverse Osmosis, and Distilled will Quickly develop bacteria, and is why people who do active hydro use a pump to aerate the water 24/7. Beware if you let the water/nutrients sit around for a few days, and not aerate the water, and also keep light out of it.
I did not know any of that. Thank you for the info! Would you recommend filling the reservoir the day of watering, and let it sit for a few hours with an air stone or bubbler?
Also, I did check the PH of the water in my tray 30mins or so after I watered, and it came out at 6.3.
Yeah Id wait until the water reacted with the air, and would use a bubbler. That would likely speed the process. I would not adjust PH until water has stabilized. 5 gallons Id probably give at least 12 hours.
I will definitely do that. I will fill my reservoir the night before feeding and keep the lid on over night. I will purchase a bubbler as well. Thanks again!
