What would a good size be for a starter pot if I only wanted to, from seed, transplant 1 time to a five gallon pot say a week before flowering?
I had my plant in a 6 inch pot for a while until i moved it to a five gallon pot. I can't remember exactly when it was transplanted but i think it was earlier that one week before flowering. It may say exactly when in the grow journal. click link attached in signature. If i were you I would put it in the 6 inch pot until you notice that the growth is slowing down/stopped (likely caused by being rootbound). You should transfer then so you don't stunt the plant.
You can start plants in any size pots you want. I usually start mine in 1 or 2 gallon pots until they show sex, and then transplanted into either a 3 or 5 gallon pot.
If you only want to transplant once Id say use a 1 or 2 gallon pot then transplant to the 5 gallon pot.
Thanks everybody for replies! So you go to 12/12 lighting before transplanting? I thought transplanting while flowering isn't advisable. Could you clarify this for me please?? I would like to weed out the males before transplanting.
Well, the plant might show sex (preflowers) before you put it into flowering. I usually veg my plants until they show preflowers. When they show preflowers i kill the males, and transplant the females into 3 or 5 gallon pots. Then i usually put them into flowering like 5-7 days later.
