Lol anyone here a post-rock junkie like i am? ahhh i love blazing to some good instrumetal stuff being a musician it just makes the music that much more beautiful (; but yeah i just want to see whatever one likes heres some ones i like Russian Circles. Pelican. God is an Astronaut. explosions in the sky.
...do any of those bands have any vocals? i like post rock and how bands try and sound different, but i cant listen to 27 minutes of instramentals....and they all kinda start soft and slow, build up to a climax, then mellow out again....
haha yeah most of them are instrumental but thats what there trying to get at is the music. on how they can have a whole song instrumental but tell a story without vocals. yeahhhh they can get like that thats why you just gotta find the right bands (;
The Mercury Program (check this out asap) Godspeed You Black Emperor! Tortoise Explosions In The Sky (you can hate all you want, but 'Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place' is a gorgeous album) Do Make Say Think Mogwai Enjoi.
I love Sigur Ros (they have vocals, albeit in Icelandic). Explosions In The Sky's early stuff was good, I don't dig their new music. Mogwai is awesome. I've tried to get into Tortoise, Godspeed, Do Make Say Think, etc. but I just don't like them. Hash Jar Tempo is godly, everyone of you should check them out. I'm going to see Mono and Maserati this weekend. I'm pumped. I think Turing Machine is a very underrated post/psych/math rock band.
I saw Russian Circles last year and they were fucking badass. But I'm personally partial to Explosions in the Sky. Their first album is nothing short of incredible.
post-rock is my favorite genre and yeah the album city of echoes by pelican is by far my favorite i love lost in the headlights and far from fields russian circles is simply amazing also Carpe and micah are my favorite songs off of Enter. thanks for all the suggestions ill take a look at all of them
