  7. Oh my god I hate it!

  9. I really like the blues. I started from a classic rock point and started exploring.

    Clutch - Regulator

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia0HUBWdDkU"]YouTube - CLUTCH The Regulator[/ame]

    Clutch started out as a metal band and eventually evolved into a jam/metal/blues/funk outfit.

    Scott H. Biram - Some Day Baby

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qovOdfMQIWI"]YouTube - Scott H. Biram - Someday Baby[/ame]

    Scott is a blues-punk artist. His lyrics are hilarious, his vocal style is like Southern blues, his guitar riffs have influence of metal, punk, and of course the blues. This particular song is based on Fred McClelland's Worried Life Blues. Chicken!

    William Elliot Whitmore - One Man's Shame

    Live with accompanying band:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKM2DFNzFvE"]YouTube - William Elliott Whitmore (Feat. City and Colour) One Man's Shame 01/29/09[/ame]

    Studio recording:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCW5dy6-eK0"]YouTube - william elliot whitmore - one man's shame[/ame]

    This blues man grew up along the Mississippi and surprisingly is from Iowa. If you were to listen to his voice you would think he's an older black man who was a preacher in the South. The first clip is very interesting because the backing band adds more depth to this song. Although the studio recording is more spare and his voice is more the focus of the song. A friend of mine described his voice in this way, "Whitmore's voice is like fine smooth whisky. It's a got bite but it's still smooth and refined."

    On to some metal I really like.

    Electric Wizard - Dopethrone

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWHplp10kQM"]YouTube - Electric Wizard - Dopethrone[/ame]

    These guys are badass and have tons of heavy distortion.

    Sunn O))) and Boris - Akuma No Kuma

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu0HQ755dpw"]YouTube - Sunn O))) & Boris - Akuma No Kuma[/ame]

    Drone metal. A friend of mine says that this stuff is great when you're doing the dishes. I like to be really baked, listen to it and have a color wheel shoot a swirl on the celing.

    Priestbird - Season of the Sun

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4jIK_HfBv0"]YouTube - Priestbird "Season of the Sun" Video[/ame]

    These guys are psychedelic badasses.

    On to some roots rock.

    Nick Drake - Day Is Done

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2jxjv0HkwM"]YouTube - Nick Drake - Day is Done[/ame]

    For some reason Nick never really made it big. His voice is haunting and his lyrics reflect on his struggle with depression. I can really relate to him.

    Bill Fay - Some Good Advice

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcKW8lYpIZc&feature=related"]YouTube - Bill Fay- Scream in The Ears[/ame]

    When I first heard Bill Fay I thought he was Bob Dylan.

    It's hard to classify the next few artists in my opinon but they're not exactly little known, just not mainstream. These artists seem to have a flare for the dramatic.

    Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wfamPW3Eaw&feature=related"]YouTube - tom waits- Chocolate Jesus[/ame]

    This was the song that got me into Waits. His sense of humor entertains the hell out of me and his lyrics and his voice are unlike anything else.

    Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Mercy Seat

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6RML0YHOm8"]YouTube - Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - The Mercy Seat[/ame]

    This is Nick Cave's signature song and even Johnny Cash sang it.

    16 Horsepower - American Wheeze

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THlgU-8dMYg"]YouTube - 16 Horsepower - American Wheeze[/ame]

    The lead singer is obsessed with Christianity and has much of the dramatic style of Nick Cave. The use of the concertina always catches my ear. The lead singer also has another band Wovenhand.

    Now some rap, I'll admit I'm not a fan of much outside of the old school West side stuff like 2Pac, Ice Cube, old Snoop, and Dre. That being said, there is only one little known rap/hip-hop artist I really enjoy and that's D'Mite. He's mature, his songs aren't about materialism, he's not misogynistic, and he's got a message.

    D'Mite - Logic and Theory

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLUMODIpQP4"]YouTube - Logic & Theory (Bomani "D'mite" Armah, Live at Jammin Java)[/ame]

    That's all folks.

  10. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ai7ZGzUgHrU"]YouTube - The Move - Brontosaurus[/ame]

  11. No doubt.

    They'll be playing here in April. Seen 'em before.. Lookin' forward to it.

  12. House of Exile - Lucky Dube

    Freedom fighter standing on a mountain
    In a foreign country
    Trying to send a message
    To his people, back in the ghetto
    He had a home one time
    Love of a girl
    But he left all that behind
    Oh yes I can hear him clearly as he whispers in the air
    His voice came out loud and clear
    All he asked for was a prayer and as he turns to walk away he said

    Chorus:
    I'm still here in the house of exile
    For the love of the nation

    Sun went down on the mountain
    Birds flew back to their hiding places
    Leaving him standing there like a telephone pole
    In the still of the night
    You and I dream
    Dreaming of Romeo & Juliet
    All he dreams about is the freedom of the nation
    When every man will be equal In the eyes of the law
    As he closes his eyes
    For the last time he said again

  13. Me! My music links in my sig. :wave::smoke:

  14. devendra banhart!

  15. The Unicorns
    Amazing Baby
    Fleet Foxes
    Strawberry Alarm Clock (maybe)

  16. Tom waits, Been said but i shall repeat due to his awesomeness.

    Elliott Smith FTW!
