Possible to veg for 5 months and then put out in May?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by PuffDaddy420, Dec 23, 2012.

  1. What would happen ?Veg indoors for 5 months. Only like 2 plants. I'm planning on starting new plants after I harvest my current micro grow. So I'll start the new ones in late January. And veg 18/6 until may like 20th I guess. And can I take a clone off one of my current plants like soon, they are in my other thread and my iPhone wont let me post the pics because they're in the other thread and right now they are in their nighttime.

  2. Okay...you want to put your plant outside on the 20th of may? with out geographic location this is tricky because of light hours depending on latitude...to technical?
Here's the thing....if you go from 18 light hours, 6 hours of darkness straight to 15 light hours, 9 hours of darkness (typical for late may) the likelihood the plant will go into flower is pretty high.....so you want to phase your dark hours UP gradually until your closer to what the outside hours are.....
So what you want to do is find out what the sunrise/sunset in your location at that time of year is - then you know what the light/dark hours you want to climatize your plant to.
Here's a link for a calculator.....---> Sunrise and Sunset Calculator
    Good luck! Rock and Roll!!

  3. if u veg for 5 months then transplant outside in may ur plants will get another 3 months of summer lovin and will be very large even huge and this is before flowering even starts

i say go for it if u can :smoke:

p.s. plants only flower with 12/12 or close to it 16/8 18/6 etc will not force flower

  4. do it and make a journal ;)
    you will have huge plants

  5. In 5 months you can do another crop and still have time to start plants for outside.
IMO and everyone has one I know. 5 months is too long. The plants would out grow any indoor space (unless you own a greenhouse or a stadium) in that time. I would go for a harvest and some nice 1 or 2 ft tall vigorously vegging plants to put outside in the spring.:smoking:

Thanks for the info, you rock!
And I am in south eastern Pennsylvania. If that helps.

  7. So day light hours are 14h 39m for may 20th for your location. If you throw your plant outside straight from 18h I can almost guarantee it will start flowering and then re-veg in june and then re-bloom in mid/late august....which is NOT what you want to deal with! Sometimes it works out, sometimes it is a total goatfuck....
If I was you I would try to get it down to 15.5 hours of light by May 1st so you KNOW it's growing at those hours. Some strains will kick in to flower earlier than others and some later. Some strains of Sativa won't bloom until fucking November, which means they require a TRUE 12h dark cycle to flower while some start to show indication of flowering by August 12th.....
The truth about this idea is that most plants will get huge without getting an "early" start like your suggesting and the purpose of doing what you purpose is to "dep" the plant in mid June so you get an August harvest. ("dep" = deprovate the plant of light by covering it some manner, Light deprivation)
Size is achieved through feeding, how much DIRECT sun the plant gets and focusing on growing the root system in most cases. Eight weeks of "veg" and (depending on strain) you should be able to grow a 10-15lb (end result of manicured flowers) plant easy. Cannabis is one of the fastest growing bio-masses on the planet and giving more than 8 or 9 weeks of "veg" it will be problematic in managing it's size i.e. you will have to provide it a support structure to keep it from breaking falling over.....(now there's a problem to have!!)

I had plants indoors under 24 hr lights for a month and a half and then put em outside april 26th when they were 2 ft and nothing went into flower. Putting them out in may won't make em flower. You'd need a plant out around feb to have it flower.
