ok so its going to start getting realllly hot where i live 85 plus.. so i am planning on getting a portable ac.. i was thinking 9000 btu.. im using 3 1000hps bulbs in air cooled reflectors and another 400w mh also in a air cooled reflector i got a 6 inch for the 400 and a 12 inch for the 3 1000watters.. so im pretty sure i have enough cfm to cool the lights but now i understand that the tempature of the air going into the ducting and through the lights is important.. will a portable ac unit be able to bring down my temp to the proper levels in summer? thanks
How large is your grow area? Also, you must keep the portable a/c out of the grow area and install ducting to the grow area. The compressor side will get hot. Easier to crawl into attic and splice on another duct INTO the grow area from your central air conditioner...
ok my grow room is 5 x 10 its a grow tent acaully.. so since its not acaully a grow room the portable ac would be outside of the tent like right beside it would this work? how would i go about exhausting the hot air out of thits portable ac.. just simply get some ducting attach it to the heat valve on the ac and than just run it out of my basement.. oh its not acaully going inside the grow tent so idk if i still have to vent it?? if i coiuld get some ideas on this thatd be great?
So your grow tent is in a room, and circulates the air from within the room? And you want to put the portable AC in the room so the tent will draw some cooled air? Chances are it will more effectively cool the room before it cools the tent, but it will work once the room pulls down. However, if you have a lot of air changes per hour to supply your grow with fresh air, it will not effectively cool on a hot day.
