Popcorn while mainlining: how to avoid them?

Discussion in 'Plant Training' started by PezzaMolia, Jun 25, 2020.

  1. As the title says, I've tried mainlining for the first time in my life, and the results are pretty good. I can already see that the plants are happy with that and I can totally say it works, especially because I also have the space for a fifth plant for my next grow.

Problem is...every single branch has at least 4 popcorn buds, which is a huge waste of material in mainlining where we want huge dense donkey-dong-like buds, but no popcorn to drain resources from the main colas.

What can I do about it? Is there a technique to avoid them?

  2. Pluck them off next time.

  3. I was thinking about doing that, but since I don't have too much experience I thought it was a bad idea.
Should I just cut the future bud sites or the leaves too?

  4. After a few grows you'll be able to judge which buds won't grow into anything substantial and pluck them. Cut the bud sites and keep the fan leaves if you can. Although depending on how dense the plant is it can be a pain in the butt to do that and I just lollipop it.
