POP PUNK???

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by HighButGrounded, Jan 26, 2014.

  1. Come on guys I know you are out there!
Pop Punk is not dead and I know you still occasionally jam to some old MCR and Blink182.
This is a safe place there is no reason to be ashamed :metal:

  2. It'll  always hold a special place in my heart, that's for sure. I still listen to it on occasion, and my band definitely has some pop-punk tones to it. Hearing those songs never fails to put my inner teenager at ease.

And on that Blink song, I do a pretty mean cover if I can be so bold as to whore myself out: https://soundcloud.com/super_andy/i-miss-you-blink-182-cover

  5. @AR Toasty the real question is Brand New or Taking Back Sunday?

Taking Back Sunday, for sure. Though neither were really my thing.

I'm less about the emo. Something like Sugarcult is more my speed.

  10. Well I am not a fan of the mainstream pop punk like blink 182 and all that stuff but I do like the underground more old school style of pop-punk.

  14. Maybe you folks will appreciate some of these bands, they don't go well in the other punk forums on here lol.
First off they are all horror punk bands, sorry but I am not a huge fan of pop punk overall, but horror punk has the edge to it that I like. I play in a regionally popular horror punk band but we are more metal than these bands in that our sound comes from old school black/speed metal and not much punk rock lol. Anyways... I got to play a show with Calabrese (the first band) in East Tennessee and it was killer! Calabrese are some cool dudes and they deserve recognition.

Yeah I am mostly into metal but I do enjoy all sorts of stuff from bebop jazz to horror punk to bestial war meta to neoclassical lol.
Anyways my band is called All Hell. We have been active, as in playing shows, since last august and since then we have played quite a few shows and we have a lot coming up. And hopefully a mini-tour this summer while I am out of college!
We have a demo up on our bandcamp/facebook page but that is nothing compared to the 12 song studio album we have recorded. We just haven't released it yet because of needing art commissioned and paying for pressing and all that technical stuff that comes with releasing an album.
Here is the facebook page and you can get to the demo from there, Be warned it was recorded with a crappy voice recorder in our practice space and sounds average at best. The album is much nicer sounding :smoking:

And I'm sure with the better voice recorder on the album it's fucking awesome. Good luck with having your album released and all that!

  18. Thanks haha. Everything sounds better on the album from the instruments to the vocals, and especially my bass! It actually comes through in the mix. My philosophy as a bassist is to play loud with lots of distortion and a pick, people actually hear the bass part to songs lol.

I considered learning how to play it for a while but realized I definitely don't have the commitment. But yeah I love the bass. Hahaha
