Police launched the investigation in May and watched several marijuana-growing facilities along the northern slope of Pine Mountain, just north of Ojai. The area has been known to produce large marijuana gardens in the past, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. During surveillance, police saw two of the suspects walking from one of the marijuana gardens. One the suspect was arrested while the second ran on foot and was not immediately found, police said. During the incident, a car arrived and the driver was found to have large quantities of plant fertilizer. He was arrested under the suspicion of making a supply drop to those working in the marijuana garden, officials said. Further investigation led authorities to a house in Bakersfield, where a man was seen dropping off workers for the same garden. A search of the man's residence found a pound of marijuana, a handgun and equipment used to grow pot, police said. Since May, more than 55,000 plants from seven different growing operations have been eradicated from the same area. Police said the estimated street value of the seized marijuana was about $165 million.
Obviously the cops didn't do a lot of surveillance....55,000 plants and 3 arrests? They need to give this shit up..........
Fuck it that's a cartel grow that's destroying our forests. 55k plants would be awfully hard to manage so it was gonna probably be some mass produced brick weed or mid grade. This is a type of operation that should be shut down quite frankly. Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
American grown cartel operations are no longer brick weed dude.....they are starting to grow better shit. But regardless I bet they were destroying the environment...55k plants, jesus.
Yeah I agree the cartels have definitely improved their crops but 55k plants in a national forest in California is clearly a cartel or some criminal org. grow op. Either way not necessary to have that many plants and could have a serious impact on the environment in that area. Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I'm reading there is an immigration and crime problem in this country, and it doesn't sound like it involves Americans. Anyone else? 55K plants. Cripes. Nothing like sitting back and letting them go at it unabated for a while, huh boys? Makes for MUCH better headlines. I don't know what I saw it on the other night, but an illegal committed a crime, and they explained they'd be serving time in an American jail and THEN would be deported after their 10 year sentence. So...broken....this nation...
What's wrong with a huge grow op? Cannabis isn't so much an invasive species, it would be some food for some kind of herbivore. Maybe according to the law it was wrong, but I see no moral reason why the farm should've even been touched. If the cartels want to grow and no body else will, then let it serve as a lesson to the US govt. Legalize this shit and YOUR citizens will be the ones growing and profiting all this, not the dirty ass organized crime cartels. Let them just profit off of heavily cut unmentionables.
Are you ignorant or just stupid? No offense, but setting aside the federal government do you have ANY idea how damaging these grows are to the environment and our national parks? Entire acres of national parks are being destroyed from grow ops like these. Pesticides and nutrients and grow equipment are left behind after harvest. Run off destroys natural habitats.
Any type of agriculture, even organic (which I highly doubt) effects the natural habitat surrounding it. This was not some abandoned farm, it was protected forest land. The chemicals used to grow any crop is going to cause runnoff which gets into the rivers and lakes and pretty much fucks everything up and there are so few undisturbed habitats left
Good fuck them. Too bad the cops are retards and only got 3 of em, although sounds like someone ratted so theres probably more arrests coming. State and national parks should not be fucked with, only idiots would not see a problem with this, they're fucking up mother nature so they can get high. THat ain't stoner shit, thats tweaker shit.
Well shit....i'm thinking this must have been a smelly forest come flowering. And i'm curious as to how big this plot was all together. I realize it must be quiet up in those woods but how did they think they could keep this many plants a secret?
