Police Problems?

    Okay, so im 22 now but when i was 14 i got arrested for having small speckles of weed, the cop legitly tried to arrest me for having SPECKS of marijuana, legitly not even enough to load a bowl so he charged me with possession under 40 grams and told my parents. i went home and the cop said he would give me a court date so its been 8 years, and they never took my to court over it? i still have possession charges on my record, but they never tried me, was it cause it was like in total like 1/4 of a gram, legitly i had .2 grams that were just crunched up stuff mixed in with crumbs of goldfish nd stuff, why do you think they didnt charge me? waste of police time or what? cause police here and courts have SERIOUS hard ons for weedheads, legitly if you smell like pot they will haul you down to the station, they will search you, if they dont find it theyll get a warrant, if they dont find it then theyll threaten you to give it up or youll go to prison for stupid stuff like lying to police and shit, so whats the deal? will i ever go to court? or what?


    oh, also since pot is legal for 21+ as of december 6th, will i still have the possession charge on my record, since im over the legal age, but when i first got caught i was under the age

    I'd think the statue of limitations ran out.In my state if you have a juvenile crime you're doing crime for (if it's not a capital crime) they let you out,and they have to charge you before your 18th birthday.But I don't know about your state laws.

    lol, id just imagine going to court over that, "for possession of 1/4 a gram of marijuana underage we sentence you to a half hour in prison"

    I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but the cops ain't one!

    Should be sealed when you turn 18, so barring that you ever commit a serious crime no one will be able to get inside that record. Also as to the legality, it doesn't matter if it is NOW legal when over 21 you still commited the crime when it was a crime. Also since you are not 21 it is still a crime. =( Keep your nose clean til you are 18 and there shouldn't be any problems.

    Statute of limitations might be up, they could have just decided it wasn't worth the money it would take to put up a trial. I do know that the new marijuana legalization in washington and colorado is not retroactive, meaning that any outstanding charges are still there. So if they are still there, you would get the original penalty, not just being charged with possessing it as a minor.

    Are you sure it's on your record? It seems unlikely given how long it's been since you heard about it. The cop may have just been on a power trip and was giving you shit.

    How do you know you still have possession charges on your record? Makes zero sense if you were never charged.

    You sure it wasn't just a simple possession ticket that was paid? Or in simple terms you gave up your right to a trial by pleading guilty and paying the ticket. Which is why you never got a court date.

    it is on my record, they actually sent me a letter saying i was subpena'd and i had to show up, but then later the court people called saying i dont have to go? and if it was random people calling the police would have come after me?, and i know for sure its on my record, i guess they didnt want to waste their time on such a small ammt of weed :yay:
