pneumonia, Can i EVER smoke again?

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by Jakes Mo Moneya, Nov 11, 2006.

  1. Hey guys, ive been away from this site for awhile now
BACKGROUND: I've been smoking 3-4 times daily for the past 2 years. I have periods where i will smoke atleast 8 times a day for like a month. I LOVE to toke, i have tried everything, from making my own bongs to making keif. Its my lifestyle now.

    SERIOUS QUESTION:
Yesterday I went to the doctor and found out that i have pneumonia. my doctor told me no matter what i cant smoke again.

Im asking you guys, if my doctor told me to never smoke because its her job to do so?
Also, if i use a vaporizer is it safe for right now, im dying, everyday feels like its a month

I'm sorry to waste your time like this, but im seriously desperate

  2. I did a little research, and all I could find was dodgy looking websites saying that smoking marijuana can lead to an increased chance of getting pneumonia (I can't vouch for the validity of these website), if what they say is true, I'd advise against smoking, or atleast do it very rarely.

I wouldn't imagine that the doctor would tell you not to smoke as it is her job to do so, they usually know best...

    Hope all works out well..

  3. dude youll be able to smoke again just take a 2 week break to let your lungs heal ive had bronchitus before and i just took a break and it went away

  4. Simply ask your doctor if he knows the phone number of a respitory specialist. While your doctor may be correct, a specialist will know much more, including possible alternatives, such as vaporizing, which you mentioned. Let your doctor know you have some fears you would like calmed, and tell a specialist, just over the phone, about your situation. Most specialists would have no problem giving some quick advice out over the phone.

  5. Of course you can smoke again, wait for it to heal first though. Don't know about the vaporizer, moderate vape use can't be too bad for you.

  6. Yeah man jsut wait for it to heal, just think how high you'll get after not smoking for a few weeks =]

  7. first off, bronchitis is much different than pneumonia. different problems and different solutions. as for the original question, "can i ever smoke again?," that is totally up to you. your doctor is obviously going to advise that you quit smoking permanently. as much as we all would like to be able to hear that smoking marijuana or any other substance is good for us, that simply is not true. it's not about the substance being bad it's about the smoke being hard on the lungs. yes smoking does increase the risk of lung and upper respiratory infections. that is not propaganda. it really depends on what type of pneumonia you have and the severity of the type in order to make a solid judgement on when it's safe to smoke again. maybe now is the perfect oppurtunity to take a tolerance break. you'll get over your illness much quicker and when you're able to smoke again it'll be a great feeling. if i were you, i would take a break of at least 30 days. it'll be hard for the first week, but after that you really won't notice much. unless of course you hang out with people who smoke it on a daily basis. you should really do this though that way your body and the antibiotics really have a chance to get rid of this infection. you'll probably feel much better within 2 weeks, but i wouldn't start smoking again until the full month is up and definitely don't stop taking your antibiotics until they are completely gone. otherwise, you have a chance of having this problem again.

  8. Cook food till your lungs are all better, you can be high all day off a couple brownies =]

  9. I'm with Jimi on this... try edibles.. they get you just as high if not higher than inhaling it and you are saving your lungs.

  10. Yeah man there are PLENTY of other options to enjoy cannabis other than smoking. Vaporization is a great alternative, but I have found that it also can be work for your lungs. Cooking with cannabis though, will allow you to enjoy all the wonders of our favorite plant while avoiding putting a hurting on your lungs. Try making firecrackers, they are pretty easy to make and work very well.

  11. Im pretty sure your pneumonia was not caused my weed smoking or else why would it randomly show up now? Like anything, pneumonia will go away and then Im sure youll be fine....its not like its lung cancer, youll be fine to smoke i say

  12. pneumonia is advanced bronchitis. you shouldnt smoke for at least a month, to let your lungs drain and let your immune system kill the bacteria and all.. think of it as a tolerance break. you'll be able to smoke just stay away from it for a month or more and then think, you'll get all ripped off one bowl of schwag even :p

  13. I am with everyone else here, in the fact that taking a month break is best. I also aggree with eating weed v.s smoking it, atleast for now. Let that shit heal up.

  14. I actually have a friend that had a very serious case of pneumonia he had to leave school and he didnt have to take finals because he was in the hospital. he smokes, i know he did quit for a while i dont know how long but he definately smokes now alright

  15. I agree with the others, you should Vape for a little while before going back to smoke.

  16. Hey thanks alot guys

its very hard to go a month, and i keep convincing myself that i can smoke now, but i think im gonna start making edibles, its a great idea

    thanks again guys

  17. just make sure you stay away from anything that can irritate your lungs, as irritation will help the bacteria out to develop more. make some brownies, and munch them if you want to get stoned.

  18. find ways to eat your weed. brownies crackers......... just stay high

  19. Pneumonia sucks! Not sure how much smoking post pneumonia affects your lungs but I had a harsh cough 2 months after mine was gone. Doc said this was normal. I couldn't imagine how bad it would of been had I smoked during that period.
