Should firefighters and building inspectors be involved in busting grow-ops? More to the point -should they be used in the sneaky way in which Abbotsford city council would have them used, namely: circumventing search warrants? This initiative on the part of the fascist, right wing-nuts currently sitting on Abbotsford city council, is nothing short of an outrage.

The plan has firefighters and home inspectors demanding entrance to private homes (without a warrant) on the pretext of a safety inspection. The real goal is a search for marijuana. If they do discover pot being grown, they plan to inform police, who will then execute a search warrant.

Bruce Beck, an Abbotsford City councilman, has openly stated that the so-called safety inspections are all about searching for marijuana so as to alert police who are bound by the need for (those pesky things known as) search warrants. Do we really want our firefighters concerned with searching for marijuana? Is that to become a part of their job discription? Just because it may not be happening in your town is not to say you should not add your voice to this. I hope you will.

There is a poll at the link above - please vote. Pass this url on to as many people as you can. Surely anyone who does not have their head up their ass can see how this outrage sets the stage for all sorts of abuse. Help send a message to Abbotsford city hall that the use of firefighters (as they would have them used) is unacceptable. As it stands now, the poll is showing more people to be in favor of this idiocy, than are opposed. I wonder how many of those votes are from city hall officials and friends of such, themselves

Say no to this ludicrousness on the part of wayward public servants.

Too many people have voted yes to this crazy shit. Please take the time to vote NO to this plan. Thank you very much.
