Hello my friends! Just passed my initial physical and drug test for a company to make 17 an hour .. My problem now, I haven't smoked for weeks. and i want to real bad tonight, just tonight to celebrate.. But has anyone ever worked in a union job? Preferably the Steel Workers Union? And if you have any experience, do they random drug test? Or just test when an accident occurs? Please, any help on my inquiry would help me greatly!! and if you give good responses, your reputation shalt rise as well!
My best guess is, it would be up to the company. I really don't think the union wants it's members tested. Especially the steel workers, some of the biggest boozers & drugies around. Do you pour?, fabricate? I spent 10 years wrestling steel as a blacksmith(no they don't show horses) pieces up to 3000 white hot degrees. Iron was the most fun. It would develop a slag coating. The outside cooled quicker than the inside & when you hit it with a hammer it would splatter. You've never had fun like trying to peel a piece of hot slag of your bare skin. Union, yes, local 10 SF Bay Area, before their was testing. Give your rep a call before you test & ask him what to expect. You pay dues, he works for you. He should be more that happy to answer any questins you have. Just say your worried about testing positive for the MJ test. Tell him you smoked once a couple of years ago. He'll see right through that but that's what you want. That tells him you smoke without admitting it.
Unions will not test you unless it would be in your favor at a dispute hearing. The company sets the drug policy.
