  1. im in desperate need of knowing how to dry marijuana without hanging...we tried but it smells too much and we need to dry it fast....how do you do it in the oven, exactly??? please! thanks!!!!

  2. YOU DON"T DRY BUD IN THE OVEN!!

If you need to dry fast take the wet (moist) away without heat!

    Cheers -

  3. FGS, you CANNOT dry MJ in an oven.

All these newbies who want everything to be a quick fix. Learn to grow and dry and cure your weed properly. Otherwise buy it from the kid on the corner.

The slower you dry your bud the better quality the bud will be ....otherwise fuck the oven and use a microwave......it will kill the taste of the bud and the potiency ....but fuck it if you dont care ......

The whole point of curing is based on a slow process to relase the moisture and the greeness (i cant spell otherwise i would use the right word.srry) from the bud......weed is like a fine wine ..... the longer you cure it for the better qualitys and taste it has......think about all those people who like their aged wines... its the same thing .....the longer you cure the better .......

I made some hash last year and i tried right after i made it and it was ok ....tasted kinda crapy .......then i forget that i had the hash and a year later (last month) me and a friend smoked this hash and holy fuckbags .....i haven't went green since i was 16 years old ....the taste was so much better along with the potiency....i could beleive it ....:smoke:

  5. you can use a food dehydrator and have it dried in a day or two with not much smell. other than that, just put it in paper bags and make sure the air can circulate.

spanishfly - not everyone can dry perfectly, i sort of have the same problem. i can grow as much weed as i want, but i have no place to dry it. obviously the slow dry and cure would be ideal, but it's not always possible...

doesnt mean someone is a newb, they might just have parents that dont want a bunch of weed slow drying around the house :)

  6. No drying weed in the oven is ignorant, you burn MJ it to get the THC out, so sticking it in the oven would get your oven nice and high??? And leave you with some THCless greens! use your heads or search the threads if you have a questionable question and try to find the answer yourself.

On and about the microwave and "it will kill the taste of the bud and the potency" if you are gonna do that why bother taking the risk of growing weed, go to the corner like SpanishFly said and buy some schwag, thats all you are gonna get. For what you will spend in lights and mediums and nutes you could buy a couple ounces of schwag and smoke it forever.

  7. Is this concidered a shortcut that will comprimise the quality?

  8. It wont affect the quality.

  9. OK, guess I am fortunate, I have 2 sheds that I can use for drying. Sorry if I offended anyone.

  10. it certainly isn't a slow dry, so the smoke is harsher...but im pretty sure it doesnt mess with potency too much.

  11. Hey spanishfly, I'll smoke with you, and there is no need to apologies for wanting them to do it right, anyone who will use a oven or worse microwave just ain't really think, must need a buzz really bad. However, if you absolutely have to do it fast then use a dehydrater is a better choice, however, it will have a yucky taste(worse than mexican dirt weed) and the potenecy WILL NOT BE AS HIGH, and get some throat lozengers as your throat will be ragged out. As has been stated MJ is like a fine wine, its best served with time.

  12. what chimera said

think of how a MJ vaporizer works, resin flashes @ approx 300 degrees, most micros dont give temps just timers and suggested cooking times. are you certain your not flashing any precious resin when microwaving?

  13. you can always use the good ol jar and cotton balls way. you just have to open it twice a day. and when u do the place ranks of weed so you might wanna do it outside.

  14. Though I agree that oven drying is a bad technique; producing harsh results, IF you cure after wards it's not so bad. Oven drying does not kill off all the THC IF you keep it low (as outlined in the High Times article deadoldman linked to in this thread). Oven drying has it's uses, such as when fighting mold (as stated in the article).

That being said, if it's smell you're worried about, then the oven won't help (it's just as, or more, smelly than hang drying, though shorter). If you jar the buds afterwards and cure them the taste isn't bad at all (though not quite as plesant as it could have been). I just did this a week ago with a batch that was starting to go moldy and there was plenty of THC left (made a whole bunch of bubble hash).

I'd recomend paper bag drying if it's evidence (smell, the sight of a bunch of plants hanging around your house) you're worried about. Manicure the buds first and then place them in large (grocery size) paper bags. Trimming/manicuring before hand is necessary as the leaves tend to wrap around the buds and hold the moisture in, causing mold. Don't put too much in one bag; cover the bottom and then a second layer (if you have more bud, start another bag). Overloading can likewise cause mold. The bags need to be openned once daily to be aired out a bit (this is the only time the smell will be noticed; do it by a window and you'll be OK). It's best to move them around a bit too while you're at it to make sure that all buds are getting air exposure. Search the forums for more bag drying details.

The other advantage of this method is that it partially cures the bud as well - you could smoke/sell it once dry using this method (but it does still benefit, greatly, from jar-curing). The negatives are that it takes longer and that there is a significant risk of mold.

  15. thanks for the responses...i am a newb, and i do want to do it right, but have some restrictions...were going with the paper bag and out of approx 30 plants (of all sizes, none bushed out) will have approx 3lbs...thanks again
