i have recently started to grow with a 150 watt high pressure sodium light with a parabolic reflector. my plant has just started about 2 inches high with its first set of true leaves. but i just put the hps on it (about 1 foot maybe a little more from the plant also i have a fan pointed on the light) well the leaves are starting to change color. it looks like it is loosing its color. i have thought maybe it was light radiation or something (im a newbie) so i took off the parabolic reflector and just have the hps bulb about a foot or more pointed down towards the plant. no progress was made by this. still looks discoloed and even more unhealty than before. please if any can help i would be extremely appreciated
well, usually my seedling doesn't stretch 2" before the cotyledons come out, so in fact your light may have to be closer but i don't think that would be smart to do that with an HPS, your problem is soil related, i suggest to start plants under fluros not an HPS, is this plant getting c02? is the soil a potting mix? is their enough circulation?
well let me clarify, it was outside for maybe a couple days which caused it to stretch. then was inside on 2 floros for mabye 2 days then went to my hps. i am using just soil you buy from walmart and i had another plant going in the soil outside which grew fine. so i know its not that. no co2 although it is getting aired out couple times a day. has fan in it. so i should just move the light up, the light is causing it????
