  1. Hi,
I am new to this side and to growing. I am having a few issues with controlling the humidity. I am growing in a 80cm x 45cm x 80cm and using viparspectra 300watt. At 24inch.
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks

  2. You should be less concerned with humidity and more concerned with the soil / grow medium you have chosen to use. It has zero perlite or anything to help with proper drainage, which can easily lead to overwatering, root rot and other bad stuff that will end your plant. Also, any grow medium — especially store purchased soil — that contains bark or wood chips is garbage. Don’t use it. Ever. Can you grow in it? Yeah, probably. But it will cause more headaches than it is worth, and as a beginning grower, you should set yourself up to succeed by purchasing or making your own quality grow medium that is more than capable of cultivating a cannabis plant.

At this stage, humidity is important, and should be as high as possible while it is a seedling. Unless your humidity is less than 45-50% then you are fine.

  3. What problem(s) do you think you have with humidity?

  5. Thank you. Is there a place on here that has a good soil mix? What can I do now to save these plants or are they a lost cause?

  6. If all you have right now are seedlings, then that’s perfect. You may have to figure out a way to bring your humidity down when you start your flowering cycle, but that’s months away.

  7. You need to transplant them soon. The root system will eventually progress and the taproots will extend past the boundary of the crap grow medium you are using now and into some better soil.

The sky is the limit when I comes to choosing a growing medium. You should first figure out what type of nutrients you want to use, and how often you want to feed and water your plants.

Since you are just getting started, I would recommend Fox Farms Ocean Forest, or Fox Farms Happy Frog. Many growers find Ocean Forest to be a little too hot, so they will mix 50% Ocean Forest and 50% happy frog. I have used both soils and both are good. I use Foxfarms Coco Loco.

Also, purchase some coarse perlite and mix an additional 20% perlite in whatever soil you choose.

Most of those soils I mentioned contain quite a bit of nutrients, and you should not have to feed your plants from bottled nutrients for at least 3 to 4 weeks.

  8. Thank you! Really appreciate your help. I just found a post on here about an organic soil I am going to try.

  9. If you are going the organic route PLEASE check out www.natureslivingsoil.com. That’s what I use for all of my grows and it is the cat’s tits. Use code OKINOK420 to get 15% off.

It is a supersoil / living soil which basically means that everything the plant needs from seed to harvest is already in the soil. All you have to do is water from seed to harvest....no nutrients needed. Everyone I help get started with growing their own supply, I ALWAYS set them up with a supersoil grow with Nature’s Living Soil. There are a LOT of mistakes you will make as a first time grower, and most of those mistakes will be related to nutrients and figuring out how to feed your plants properly. You will have pH problems, probably some nutrient burn or at the very least one nutrient deficiency. It’s a pain in the ass and the hard way to learn if you ask me (but it’s how I learned and I still choose to grow in no-till supersoil). You can make your first grow a stellar success if all you have to do is water. Then you can focus your attention on training your plants to increase your yield. You also do not need to flush at the end of your grow when you grow in a supersoil mix. Flushing is also a pain in the butt.

My current supersoil (water only) grow is Jack Herer strain. I’m pushing for 20 ounces total. I have not had a single deficiency....not a single thing go wrong with this grow. My plants are as healthy as they can possibly be.

Do yourself a favor and try the supersoil.
