    Hi All,

Last night My roors stem got kind of stuck in the joint... Really tight, I was a stoned fucking idiot and went for the pliers and just ruined the stem... Along with making it very hard to get out. Have tried tapping the joint lightly and pulling but with no luck. I'm not entirely confident on doing anything myself, does anyone think if i were to take it to a local glass blower, or glass craftsman they'd be able to help me out?

Please if anyone has any suggestions on how I can get the stem out without damaging the bong, they would be highly appreciated.

  2. what's all that shit in there?

  3. try running it under hot water upside down and kind of pulling on it
you look pretty out of luck right now to be honest.

  4. Just build up of resin, the picture makes it look weird... the shit is only a thin layer on the sides.

  5. Metal pliers to a RooR? What were you thinking? You Need Grommets man. lol jk

  6. That looks like classic hydro-lock. You should always clean out any water left in the female joint and on the male joint before attaching them or else... well... this.

As to how to get it out? hot water might work, dont just dump hot water on it or your going to crack the glass. bring the temperature up with warmer and warmer water. I think grabbing onto that little tab with a cloth over it is going to be your best bet for pulling.

    Good luck.

  7. your roor is dead

  8. You sound pretty wise and well travelled in glass. Thanks, I'll give it a go later tonight. I wasn't aware of 'Hydro-Lock'... I actually thought I was being smart by leaving the joints wet so that they slid apart easily, but now I've landed myself in this hole. When you say hot water, are we talking about taking it up to the point where the tap is on fully hot? Like too hot to touch. I'll make sure I bring the heat up gradually and all, but seeing as I'm potentially risking the whole bong and not just the stem by doing this, I just want to be 100% sure. Thanks again.

  10. its not dead...it looks like the diffuser is just stuck to the joint.if he can get it out without damaging anything else he should only have to get a new downstem and possibly a slider.
good excuse to throw an alex K or SG gridded downstem in that bitch!

  11. Just bring it up to a good and hot temperature, the only thing your trying to do is get the female joint to expand enough so that there is clearance to pull it out.

Ive seen joints that seem to be welded close be opened, and ive also seen it where they never come out. Its a hit and miss sort of deal.

The real truth of the matter is, if you dont get it out the bong is useless anyways. So putting everything you can into it (with the possibilty of breaking the bong) is really your only option.

  12. if it were mine i would put a screwdriver or something of the sort into the downstem and break as much of it off into the bong as possible(im assuming the stem will crack from the force before the join will). then i would get a heavier gauge wire and make short hooks to pull on the glass from the bottom up to get the etched part out. then i would break up whatever is left of the stem on the inside with the screw driver(very carefully) and pour it out and replace the stem

You ain't risking the whole bong when you run it under hot water. And you put water in between your joints? Why??? You never notice it slides the best when both joints are bone dry?

Anywho...just keep your shit dry, clean, and not so much resin and things shouldn't get stuck. Everyone else has given the same advice I'd say

  14. Put a clothes hanger thru the downstream and have it latch onto the bottom hole. Put some hot water on it while your doing it, and you're gravy.

  15. You're a genius! I think.

  16. Yeah try the close hanger tactic sounds like it will do mighty fine.

  17. Also, try the tapping method I suggested before in addition to these. It can't hurt.

Makes me glad both my tubes are fixed stems, so much less hassle

  18. Just use a wooden cooking spoon, its about the same size. Slowy tap on the spoon while its placed firmly against the broken downstem (obviously with the handle, not the spoon part). Dont use metal or you`ll break your shit. WOoden spoon .

Also if you have a blow torch you can get the fucker really hot then tap with wooden spoon.

  19. Yeah I've been thinking of trying similar things since it first happened. I'm going to see if I can do it with just pulling on that tab with a cloth first, if not I'll make myself a lovely stiff wire hook. All else fails I might just get a nail and a very light/small hammer and tap tap tap on the inside of the stem to try break it. Fun bit will be getting all the bits of glass out though with massive ice notches blocking the way. Thanks for the help people :D

  20. much luck id hate to see a pretty roor get hurt.
