Please help, connecting pc fans to speed controller

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by Sidric, Jun 1, 2018.

  1. Hi there, this is my first time posting on a forum, although I’ve been reading them for years..
I’m building a stealth pc grow and all of it is done except the fans.
When I use a less powerful fan with only 2 wires it can speed up and slow down without any problems.
But when I try to connect it to my new more powerful fans I get problems controlling the speed.
I have 2 fan speed controllers and at different times they have started to produce smoke
    Thank you for reading

  3. hey not sure if this is the problem but your fan draws 3.24 amps and your power supply only outputs 2 amps..

  4. You need a PC power supply. Like a 250W to 300W. It's not gonna pull all of that. It's just gonna run the fans. Put it in line with your controller and you'll be ready to go.
