There is already a thread for this, but I'm posting here so I can educate more people about this travesty.

As some of you know, the g20 conference has attracted many protestors to the city of Pittsburgh. There are 9000 rogue policemen trying to control peaceful protestors in the inner city. People are being gassed, maced, beaten with batons, kicked, innocent bystanders are being attacked for absolutely no reason other than to get the people off the street. Which is obviously not working.

A few of my friends that go to the university have been gassed and beaten down, locked out of their dorms all night and chased around by the police just for hanging out outside. They have absolutely nothing to do with the protest and they're getting abused.

^^^^Constant live feed from the events going on.

Over 30 videos of the abuse going on. Please take some time to watch.

I don't want my friends getting hurt anymore so please support.

The mainstream media is corrupt so we need to come together on the internet or any other form of communication and get the point across to the citizens of this country.

  2. I'm sorry for what happened to your friends. I too am a Pitt student but I don't live in oakland or in the dorms anymore. However, I completly support the police being there but not the vast number of them

All pittsburgh universities gave students wednesday(some schools), thursday, and friday off so that there was no need for them to be all over campus for the days that the G-20 was going on. Granted there are more cops then probably needed around but they're here to protect the local businesses that the protestors broke the windows of on wednesday night and thursday nights. Pitt/Chattham/CMU students and protestors sadly all act the same....ive watched cars and couches get burned when we win NCAA basketball games around here

Now in these videos of riot control marching down the main street...explain to me why everyone needs to be outside in the streets or on the balconys? I was actually a few streets a way enjoying my FREE days off school smoking a blunt with my friends. These kids must not have had anything better to do

  3. You don't ever just chill outside? Some were curious just to see what's going on. If the police were there to protect them, why are they beating them down?

  4. If there are lines and lines of cops walking the streets telling you that they're readying no-deadly weapons and to leave the vicinity listen to them....

  5. There were plenty of people that chilled outside lastnight and didnt get in small skirmishes with the riot cops. My friends even went to pick up a pizza after the riot cops passed and they had no problem

  6. According to my friend who goes there, she was outside of her room when she was gassed. Disgruntled, she was wandering around and tried to get back into her room when the police forced her away from the room and would not let her back in.

Where are you supposed to go if you don't live anywhere near Pittsburgh and are literally blocked out of your room?

  7. I really find it hard to believe that the cops were actually inside the dorm complex itself...if they were actually inside on the floors and in the hallways I can sympathize for your friends.

  8. Apparently they were on a balcony just observing and they came up because they were taping it.

  9. Seems they might have been...

Fucking with the students isn't right. But to be the devil's advocate, if people weren't throwing rocks and inciting riots, the police wouldn't have to do what they're doing. In case you don't know, these G20 summits have a history of violent protests. People get hurt. I know it's not what most of the protesters want; I know the vast majority are being peaceful and lawful. But there are people who love to start shit, the people who are breaking windows and throwing rocks at police. These people are the ones who turn things violent. You have to realize that the cops are just as scared as everyone else. They are worried about having to shoot people, being shot at, having rocks and other things thrown at them. They are trained to take an authoritative stance in such a situation. If the angry mob thinks for a second that the cops are weaker then them, very bad things happen. So they march out like an army and tell you to disperse, because once you disperse everybody is much safer.

  10. They wont get away with this shit much longer, Obama gonna put the law down, Obama going to save everybody, because Obamacares! haha im so geeked right now,, but RIP protesters, yall marters in my book.

  11. The video you just posted is exactly what I'm trying to emphasize. What were these kids doing wrong?

  12. This is what im trying to say thank you for putting it like this(+rep). Also it was dark when this was all going on...everyone was a bit more antsy and on their toes then normal. If you see the video's from the previous days when the protesters are throwing rocks and breaking windows the cops may have been worried about these people and the added problems dealing with drunken college students now mixed in.

That street that everyone is on runs right through the middle of the college campus

  13. the kids that are on the stairs are outside in a public entrance that is connected directly to the street where the wall was moving up. once again I AM NOT condoning what the riot cops did, but the kids that were inside the actual glass walkway inside the building were not tear gassed or pepper sprayed.

  14. Hahaha.

What a load. They're afraid to shoot people? Sir, they are trained to shoot people. Cops go through a lot of military style training. They're taught to confront a situation, not run. Unless the rioters have AK-47s or explosives, I doubt they're worried about a few rocks when they're covered head to toe in armor.

The first video showed the line of riot police beating their sticks against their shields. They're not 'afraid.' That is a show of power; a threat. "Disperse, or we'll beat the living hell out of you, gas you, then arrest you." Dude, I bet they're -excited- they get to do it.

Obviously, those protesters were not looking for a fight. Yes, shit was thrown, but all I saw was a tear gas canister. And we all know where that originally came from.

  15. But being on the stairs means they're causing harm. I understand the cops are antsy and having to deal with it, but these kids did not look the least bit threatening, especially the girl who was bleeding in the video.

My question is why are all the innocent people getting hurt and there are still anarchists wearing bandanas and carrying black flags vandalizing the city.

Yes, ask any cop who isn't out of his mind and he'll tell you he'll wish to never, ever have to shoot somebody in his career. Yes, they're trained to shoot people smartass. I know what the academy consists of, I was very close to going down that path a couple years ago. They may not be afraid of rocks, but when you let people throw rocks and they see it does nothing, they're going to throw something bigger/more dangerous to try to get you to react. You don't seriously think there isn't somebody crazy enough to throw a molotov, do you? It also could be a COP that gets an itchy trigger finger. Cops are trained, but that doesn't make them machines. They're still human beings, and most human beings really don't like to kill other human beings. But all it takes is ONE idiot to go from harmless protests to dead bodies.

Have you never heard of Kent State??

Do you really want something like this to happen again? This happened with National Guardsmen, they're trained to shoot people as well.

The cops bang on their shields, sure do. Yes, it's a show of strength. If you bothered to read, I already addressed that. They do that to make sure the protesters don't think they can stand up to the police. It helps prevent stupid things from happening.

Bottom line, all it takes is one person to spark off a tragedy. I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened yet. Things are getting scary....

  17. boo this man.

    BOOOOOOOOO!

police hate citizens. its the only answer. they're all fat little hateful people who got picked on and bullied in high school and wanted a way to get back at everyone for not helping them when they were getting atomic wedgies for 20 years of their lives. and on the other side are the actual bullies who are also fat that are way too dumb to be an FBI agent or even join the Army but still wanted a way to beat and steal from average citizens for no reason without getting him self arrested. so they both became cops and now they work together to fuck the general public.

    police get no respect.

  18. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious

In any case, there still isn't any coverage of this on any mainstream media outlets.

  20. Cops have no right to do this bullshit, and why isn't this on the news? More evidence that the news stations are told what to say and what not. The less people that know about this, the better for the people that are being protested.
