playing with ph

  1. hey guys. i did some damage looks like ether raised or lowered the ph due to prolonged ferting. problems not too bad but i need to know how to change the ph in soil up and downwards just so i know :p because they are getting alot of minute problems that will develop worse over time.

  2. The best method is to add lime or limestone to your soil mix *before* you plant and let it sit for at least a couple of weeks. This helps the soil pH stabilize giving you less problems during your grow.

Seeing as though you are past that however, you need flush the soil with lots of pH neutral (7.0) water. This will rid the soil of salts and built up ferts and help bring the pH back close to normal.

  3. what types of water are ph 6.5-7?

  4. I use tap water for regular waterings but out of the tap the pH is too high. I use phosphoric acid (hydroponics store) and superthrive to even the pH out at 7.0.

For cloning and seed germination I use distilled water.

  6. your soil could be too acidic at this point with the prolonged ferting, id flush like GG said, get some of those salts out. but first and foremost if you think youre having a lockout, you need to get the pH tested asap! lowes and home depot have soil testers.

  7. Yep ^
Get something u can test the ph with first to see exactly wot the problem is,
then you'll know where to go from there ;)

  8. im going out today to get one ill write back with results

  9. flush with bottled water, it's usually close to 7.0...........even it's nute locked a flush will help, i flush a grow maybe about twice from seed to bud...........good luck, and yes a ph soil tester is allwys a handy thing to have.............Peace out..........Sid

  10. could i boil the water then let it sit at room temp? or do i buy distilled water or what? :) just wanna make sure i know what im doing :p

  11. i'd go with bottled just incase...........Peace out.......Sid

  12. yay i got a ph tester ok my ph for both plants is 8.5 :/ a little too high me thinks so what should i do? ive been giving it boiled water left at room temp and its ph is 7 so should this change the soil ph to 7 over time too?

  13. you could buy ph adjuster, but if you flush with enough 7.0, it'll be fine..........Peace out.........Sid

  14. thanks guys i hope these babys turn out as good as the last ones :)

  15. where do i buy ph ajuster? im up in canada :p

  16. to lower your pH you could use peat moss. as well as sawdust or woodchips. hope this helps. :)
