Playing Music or Singing While High

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Trippybear, Oct 10, 2023.

  1. this is sort of a newby question, and I'm not sure if I should put it here or in a different section, but I figured this was where beginner questions go, so I stuck it here. If I sing or play the piano while I'm blazed, will that effect what the music sounds like? I've heard of people playing when they're drunk, and they can think they sound good, but really they're bombing. Does that happen with weed as well? I'd love to take a gummy and then go and jam with people because it enhances music, but I also don't want to sound like crap and think I sound normal.

  2. I don't make music (although I do think it's something I'll get into one day or another) but from experience doing other shit while fucked up I feel like your skill at anything is wayyy more down to your experience/general ability than what substance your on.

Ever hear of John Daly? This guy drank like a fish and would golf better than most could do under the most optimal circumstances. And I think most people's mistake is thinking that's some crazy fluke. I'm not saying getting fucked up can't hurt your ability, but I guess what I'm saying is your ability is the overriding factor by a much larger margin than most people give credit to.

Get stoned. Have fun. Enjoy yourself. Don't worry about whether weed's fucking your shit up cause it genuinely probably isn't.

  3. Sounds like you've got a natural aptitude for acoustics/musical arrangement; getting blazed up before/while performing your music is a very bad idea. For one your fans deserve a sober best-of-your-ability performance so you're really short- changing your fans by being stoned on stage performing. Similar to guys thinking they are so suave and romantic when they're drunk trying to talk about stuff when in reality the guy is simply just a slurring, bad breath smelling, clumsy ogre. Can you save the blaze up until after your performance?

  4. Just make music, without drugs

  5. I think it depends on the individual's ability and medical needs. I play better after I vape. It loosens me up and limits my muscle spasms.

  6. Don't worry, I'd never blaze before an actual performance, I wouldn't do that. I'm talking about like having a jam session or something like that, not anything serious.

  7. Try an experiment -
Get high and then record yourself playing.
Listen back when you’re not high to see how you sounded.

I’ve done some of my best recordings whilst high. Also some of my best ideas that I later developed came about when high.

Jam sessions can go either way.
A bunch of guys stoned can really have some fun, but sometimes it doesn’t gel so good. It’s gone both ways for me.
