Anyone else know much about the plasma universe model? If researched a few different cosmology models and found this the most convincing. I stumbled across Barry Setterfields research and models and find his work absolutely amazing. Some of it is quite technical and over my head but a lot of it is digestable to the educated layman. He does have a section specifically for laypeeps. I suppose most in this section are educated to some extent! There are probably other plasma universe models out there but i can point you to his particular website for starters. GSR- Barry Setterfield
From what I've seen the plasma universe model is the creationism/intelligent design theory of cosmology and has been discredited quite a bit. It is a fringe idea that is never going to be widely accepted because it is just plain wrong. Check out this site for more info: How I know "plasma cosmology" is wrong
Ill check out the link. I dont really care who comes up with a theory and dont judge them based on its founders, i prefer letting the theory speak for itself. Have you personally looked into it or did you just look at the debunkers? There seems to be a lot of phenomina that the plasma model can explain that typical big bang cosmologies cannot. There are many big bang models, it itself isnt a unified theory, because it too has flaws. Ill reply once ive read the link.

Look at the language he uses, he is far from objective. If ur a member of the forum ask him to critique the paper i linked. On the link i gave he has scientists objections and his response to them. I suggets you check it out my friend its facinating.
Ok, I've looked into this a lot more since my first post and my opinion hasn't changed. I've looked at that site and this one, Plasma Cosmology .net, and tried to give this idea a chance but it is still wrong and based on faulty calculations and logic. It really is like creationism/Intelligent design in that it mainly seeks to poke holes in BBT and the evidence that is presented might seem solid but falters under closer inspection. I'll admit that the first link I posted isn't the best due to a general lack of technical data but these two links do a much better job in my opinion. There is no need to concern yourself with the specifics as it doesn't actually exist. But if you really are interested it basically boils down to the idea that electromagnetism is the prevailing force throughout the universe and it downplays the role of gravity. It also posits the idea of "plasma filaments" which conduct electricity and generate magnetic fields.
Glad to hear ya gave it a bit more invesigation! What didd you think of the computer simulation and the formation of spiral and other galaxies? As well as the CMBR and redshift? I just find the BBT to be a bit lacking especially with the need to involke dark matter and dark energy because gravity itself is far to week for planets and stars and galaxies to form. It seems to me the simple expansion of space itself would proclude the gravitationally formed bodies. With gravity so feeble andd the expansion of space so rapid and powerful it seems it would greatly overcome gravity. Ill check out those links and thanks for acknowledging the problem with your first link. Just as my objections to the bbt are probably due to ignorance, i dont want to listen to the objections of another layperson haha. Im heading to those links!
I have been researching it a bit more and i dont see a particular association with creationists. Check out plasmacoalition.org/about.html they are a coalition of many institutions some highly regarded such as los alamos, sandia, princeton and baylor. Baylors CASPER team claims
Current theoretical research topics include meso and nanostructure formation, complex (dusty) plasmas, gravitoelectrodynamics, protoplanetary/ protostellar evolution, grain charging in dense and tenuous complex plasmas, grain coagulation in nebular clouds, ordered grain lattice formation within complex plasmas, wave propagation through ordered and disordered complex plasmas, numerical modeling of hypervelocity impacts, superstrings, M-theory, early universe cosmology and high energy astrophysics Not to mention the other areas it covers. As i said earlier i wouldnt be so hasty to reject it so priliminarily. Also plasmauniverse.info check out the sponsors and affiliates.
