Plants flowering early

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by Frostnuggets, May 3, 2018.

  1. Hello I’m a grower out of Southern California and am running my first outdoor grow, I’ve had great success indoor and am going to college next year for cultivation so I decided I would attempt an outdoor greenhouse grow this season. So I got the set up with the greenhouse and everything and bought some teens off the coast that were already used to the outdoor. I assumed this would give me a head start on the year as I got them in April and they were already about 2ft tall. Well anyway my plant now appear to be flowering with no new growth coming from buds and pistils popping up in budding spots. Right now I’m only getting about 13 hours of sunlight a day? With direct sun from about 10am-4:30pm. Would this cause flowering even though the days are getting longer? will the plant reveg? I was hoping to grow some large plants and wasn’t planning on this as I’ve never had this problem. How can I help revert it early? so I don’t have to wait a long period of time for it to revert. This is kind of pissing me off as I was wanting a large yield from these plants and was gonna transplant them to large pots. Right now they are in 7 gallon pots and are no where near filling them in. What should I do? I would prefer to not use lights as I don’t want to give away my growing location to thieves and I’m trying to quit paying so damn much for electricity.

  2. Sunrises at 6:08 am tomorrow and goes down at 7:50pm so as you can see I’m only getting about 13 hours and 45 minutes of sunlight. Is this enough? Would some low wattage cheap leds on for an hour or two in the middle of the night revert them.

  3. We're they clones from a shop if they were they probably had them on 24hrs light and you putting them out at 13 hours light confused them give them a week or two and they'll get back to veg.

  4. They were already in soil and outside when I got them. Maybe the difference in amount of direct sunlight did it? I got them about 30 mins away from where I live, bought them on the coast, the business was on the beach and I moved them to my house, 30 minutes inland.

  5. You put them out too early. They will reveg in a few weeks and then start to flower again in early August. Outdoor plants don't adhere to the strict 18/6 12/12 schedules that indoor growers are used to. In Oregon, I won't put my plants out until late May. Since SoCAL is further south, I would guess mid to late May is when they should have gone out.

They'll be a little stressed from the flips but they'll be fine in the long run.

  6. Well you I believe you would be right if they were grown indoor but they weren’t, I believe I figured out my problem tho. The business I brought them from kept there strictly outdoor teens right next to their greenhouses with lights. So therefore this business sold me plants that were not directly under lights but still got some low intesity light from the greenhouse plants next to them I definitely won’t be going back to this business. Luckily I have some seedlings going that should be fine. Just kind of blows because I was hoping to grow a couple large plants this year.
